Work has been done by the team to add support for partial strings. They are continuing to work on improving the experience.

The zoom feature has released to the public ring. Using CRTL + or CTRL – zoom in and out on a Windows PC.
I need to correct the information I provided last month about MAC. It appears the MAC version is still in testing and hasn’t yet gone out to the public. It is “In Testing” but will be coming to the public soon!
The item tracking this specific update can be found at: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/admin/v3/suggestions/16933183/activity
There now is a UI element that tells you your current zoom level and a Setting within the UI to preset your zoom preference.
Since the zoom feature could very well cover the vast majority of user needs, based on the majority of comments and feedback, I will flag this item as Partially Done.
Thank you for all the feedback and support!

ZOOM would be sufficient for me, I agree with the other one more.

We are working on a design with more density in mind. Until this design is solidified we are putting this item back to Under Review.

I would much prefer being able to pop out conversations than the value of a compact version. Communicator, Lync, and SFB had this. I want to see one conversation on my TaskBar for each active conversation. I want to be able to line up the conversations next to each other on my screen. I have 2 monitors, a total of 1920x2=3840 pixels. Teams is not built for efficient modern multi-tasking.

I vote for the compact version.
Teams seems to have some responsiveness to resizing already, therefore increasing density would help some, but not be as valuable as the compact version.

On the left navigation, it shows my contact's name, the first line of the last communication, then a blank space. I'd like to have a setting where I can get more names to show. I only care to see the name, not the first line of last communication, and the blank space is wasted space. Similar to Communicator, Lync, and SkypeForBusiness, I'd rather see more contacts view (without having to scroll down), less wasted space.

Yes, please implement this! To compensate for my frequent mistake of sending messages to the wrong "Chad".

If you have experienced this could you please confirm in the topic comments if this is still happening for you?
The zoom feature has been released on PC and I’m hoping it also resolved this odd experience but please let me know!
