I would also disagree, Skype emojis are actually good and more focused. But... standard emojis have become the norm.
The team is working on changes to the desktop client so recently opened tabs are kept in memory, as long as it doesn’t use too much memory.

Performance has been and continues to be a big focus area for Teams. One main area we have made improvements in is responsiveness for the most frequent user actions of switching between Chat, Channel, and Activity. We are also focused on reducing resource consumption and application load time. More improvements are on the way.

Teams has many greats features, but overall sluggishness (e.g. switching chat rooms) is killing. And that's on a powerful recent laptop. It's a drag to my workflow.
Also agree completely. And I even go further: nobody cares about sign out. That function should be much deeper in the menus.
