We acknowledge the customer demand for Private Channels and have been hard at work on it. Private Channels is currently in preview with a select group of customers. We expect to release the feature to the public later this Fall, and will update here when we are starting to roll out to all customers. We appreciate all the feedback you have provided to us on this forum and thank you for your patience.
I'm guessing this will also make Plans created under a Channel, private.

This feature request is still being actively worked upon. Good progress is being made, but I cannot share any additional details at this time.
While we work on our Whiteboard you can also try the third party whiteboard app Freehand by Invision that can be found by clicking the Store icon from within Teams and go to the app gallery.
Thank you for all the feedback and suggestions.
This feature request is working its way through the backlog queue. No new details are available yet.
The key function I need is the option NOT to create a new SharePoint site collection for each Team/Group/Plan, etc. Even creating just a new subsite within an existing site collection would be a step in the right direction.
This request has been declined by the feature team.

Hi. Can we get an update on this?
This is similar to:
Also, assigning non-team members to channels would help in reducing the amount of teams to create, which can get out of hand with a bunch of one-offs.
Seeing all teams and Site Collections would be ideal. Also, as a SharePoint Admin, I would need to global permissions to all site collections created by Teams in the same manner as SharePoint site collections created from the Admin Center.
Yes, displaying a full list of SharePoint sites in the Admin Center would be ideal.
