Yes, my teams have been using Slack and Basecamp for years. It is important to be able to import from these.

Agree. My organization also has an established SharePoint site with several document libraries. In a channel when adding a tab, I was successful in linking it to one of my established SharePoint libraries and that seems like it will work great. But what I would like to do is be able to Remove (or at least Hide) the default Files tab in the Teams Channel so that the team only sees and uses the specific SharePoint library I have linked for them.

Also, it doesn't seem possible to move the first two tabs (Conversations and Files) to a different position. So unfortunately they will always see the default Files area ahead of my linked SharePoint library that I want them to use.
