Please check “Teams/Skype Consumer chat and calling interop” on the public roadmap at microsoft.com/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters.. for updates.
Just reading some comments... I appreciate that many enterprises do not want to enable the federation with Skype Consumer. The point is not to enable it by default but to give companies CHOICE.
This is really a missing feature. I'd like MS to reconsider and I've shared that with my account team and with some MS PG people I know from EBC attendance in Redmond.
May I ask why this has been declined? We are excited about our move to Teams, but this seems to be one of just a couple major blocking points.
Our HR teams rely on Skype for Business Online to Skype Consumer federation for their interview processes and they really love it...
We have been iterating on different designs and are starting to test internally. I don’t have a timeframe but will keep you posted.
This is in the works! Fill out this survey if you want to influence the feature: https://microsoft.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_esTxHdABLQxKLvn
I fully agree - As the strategy clearly moves to "Yammer and Teams" for all communications, just like Yammer, Teams needs the Translator API for conversations.
For us, it is a real nightmare, as Michelin has two official languages (French and English) and we have LOTS of English speakers that do not speak French (it is normal...) and the occasional French speaker who does not speak English, but has lots of valuable skills and experience to offer...
We are losing the French-only speakers completely in Teams, and (by comparison) we have great interactions in Yammer thanks to the Translator API.
Microsoft Whiteboard App is in preview. Rollout to public users will be coming soon. You can find more details here:
Sorry for the delay on an update on this one! I’m hunting down the status for you and will update once I have it.
Also, if you are interested in participating in testing or surveys for this, just tweet me at @skprufo.
Due to prioritization of other work-items this has been moved to the backlog. We will update when it is being actively worked on again.
We’re currently working on defining a compact mode experience. I will post more details when we have more to share.
What could be absolutely outstanding, regarding inline images, is if you could alter that setting by channel as an option for Team owners.
Great - thank you!
Adding any emoji as a reaction remains under review.
I am marking this as partially done to let you know a new reactions bar with Like, Heart, Laugh, Surprised, Sad, and Angry has begun rolling out to all users.
This feature item is still in the works. We will keep you posted as we have new info from the feature team.
We acknowledge the customer demand for Private Channels and have been hard at work on it. Private Channels is currently in preview with a select group of customers. We expect to release the feature to the public later this Fall, and will update here when we are starting to roll out to all customers. We appreciate all the feedback you have provided to us on this forum and thank you for your patience.
I think this is totally mandatory once you have guest access. You really need to be able to have a channel that everyone that is part of the host company can access without worrying about contractors or suppliers viewing the discussion. The alternative today is that you would have to have two separate groups/teams and that is too much overhead.
