The team is working on changes to the desktop client so recently opened tabs are kept in memory, as long as it doesn’t use too much memory.
I will keep you posted as we make further progress.

I apologize for not having updated this. Changing the landing page for a Team and/or Channel remains on the backlog at this time.

As a general status I’m going to flag this as “on the backlog”.
However, here is the list breakdown for you all. :)
1) Image embedding.
-This is supported!2) Better Copy & Paste
-I would think is is asking for copy and paste between sections – this is -“on the backlog”3) Better Alerts,
-If this is a request for notification when someone changes a section you “own” or “follow” this is “on the backlog”4) Why isn’t there an equally capable Modern app.
-Not being considered at this time.5) Editing functions are terrible.
-This is “on the backlog” but making good progress… hope to have more details in the near future to share.6) Hyperlinks not recognized.
-This should be fixed already.7) The burger icon is so small (to expand the list of Wiki’s), couldnt find with a microscope. Make is screen- size dependant. Larger than…

The SharePoint tab should do more than just libraries. It should enable presentation of any URL-accessible SharePoint content, including Pages, Sites, Lists, Filtered library views and pretty much any url-accessible SharePoint content. We have tried to use the Web Site tab with SharePoint URLs but it won't allow the content to display in a frame.
An error occurred while saving the comment NakiKiwiNZ commented
I have been trying to achieve this using the URL to a view, folder etc with a Website app tab, but it won't show it in a frame. When you try to do it via the SharePoint tab app, it only allows you to select a library. Extremely limited!

We have raised the priority of this work item, and it is currently being worked on. We don’t have any dates to share at this point, but will update when we have new status. Thank you!

PPS - Here's the workaround I am trialing. Once I create a channel, I go to the channel's folder in SharePoint and delete it. Then I create a Library with the same name, and in the Channel I create a SharePoint tab for the library. Works great, and enables you to set different metadata for different channels in the SharePoint side of things. If only they would enable us the option of hiding or removing the 'Files' tab in Team Channels!!

PS - Good practice in SharePoint is to minimize URL length (too long breaks things). So when you create a Team or Channel (or Site or Library) it's a good idea to give it a short but recognizable name when you first create it (no %20 spaces etc). That sets the enduring URL address and keeps it short), then afterwards, change the name to the longer name you want (which gives a nicer display name without changing the short URL). You pretty much have to apply SharePoint good practice to Teams methinks. It's still a major problem that users can change the channel's SharePoint folder name which breaks the Channel's Files tab.

So the channel works in the same way as SharePoint Sites and Libraries do. The first name you give it is what the URL will be forever. That protects the integrity of any links made to folders and files (changing the url would break them). However the real bug (and it is a REAL BUG), is that users can change the folder names of channels in SharePoint which breaks the Channel's Files tab. Folders created by channels should be protected from name changes by users.

Worse still, if someone renames the folder, it breaks the Files tab in the Channel.
... And as if that's not enough, even if you disable Team Member's ability to add/edit channels, they still have permissions from the SharePoint end to change the Channel's SharePoint folder name and thus break the Channel's Files tab.
An error occurred while saving the comment NakiKiwiNZ commented
When you rename the folder from the SharePoint view, it breaks the Files tab completely for that Channel as well.

The way it is with such a long name 'Shared%20Documents' also creates an over-length URL issue unnecessarily.

Hey everyone — Suphatra’s back! And I’m on the case with this item.
I talked to engineering and I think they don’t understand this request. The requests says “Admin App” — do you mean Admin Center? The O365 portal?
Also, what exactly do you envision for central administration — for example — what can you do now, can’t do, and would like to do with this new feature.
Your feedback will help me get the team to put more resources into this. Thank you!
Suphatra

Central Administration should also include the ability to administer and maintain Team permissions using Security Groups, not just individual users! At the moment you can select a security group while initially adding members, but it just adds the individuals instead of the security group itself, which is going to create a major headache in the medium to long term trying to maintain the integrity of security permissions.

Customizing the files view has been announced and is coming soon! This will include viewing metadata from document libraries and lists.
Here is the link to the blog post that details the features that are coming: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-sharepoint-blog/rich-new-file-and-sharing-experiences-throughout-microsoft-365/ba-p/960129

Pinning the entire document library is supported today. Learn more here, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-a-sharepoint-page-or-list-to-a-channel-in-teams-131edef1-455f-4c67-a8ce-efa2ebf25f0b.
We currently do not support pinning a specific folder, but we are considering this feature.

You can link to a library, not just a site. But nothing more useful than that. We should be able to link to SharePoint Views and Folders at the very least - possibly to any SharePoint URL. You can try it through the Website app tab tool, but it won't display SharePoint content from a URL in a frame.

Desperately needed. It is so simple with security groups and such an escalating mess without! The idea of having a permissions framework without security groups is nuts. Please we need this urgently. Surely it's not a major to enable Microsoft Team permissions to operate by Security Group rather than just individual user!

Having only the capacity to manage permissions by individual user is a maintenance nightmare. Teams needs to be able to maintain access permissions by Security Group.

We are now preparing for the roll out of Tasks in Teams which will integrate additional features integrating To-Do and Planner. This includes additional list views that also extend to tabs in teams. Further announcements about additional integration in our overall Tasks coherence effort will follow.
You can follow the rollout via our Roadmap item: https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/roadmap?searchterms=57213. To see a preview of the experience, please visit https://youtu.be/rTATVGroEsQ.

Would be great if Tabs were more flexible. Have tried to create both SharePoint and Website tabs with URLs that call folders and views, but it either won't accept the URLs, insists on libraries only, or accepts the URL but then says 'can't display in frame'.

Plenty of user feedback being received that it is poor practice having to do extra clicks every time they navigate between channels. How about adding a minor feature that remembers the last tab a user viewed in a channel, and navigating there when they next use that channel? That would be a huge win in terms of daily unnecessary clicks, Microsoft Server burden and page load waits! Make it a feature that the Admin can enable or disable maybe?
