I really like the suggestion of creating an alarm on a message, so you come back to it. I’ve passed this on to our engineering team.
Meanwhile, here’s another feature you can utilize for the same purpose — use our “bookmark” button, which is in the upper right corner of every message. This will save that message or thread directly to your profile. To access your saved messages, just click your face in the upper left corner of the product. You’ll see a tab in the left rail that says “Saved.” This is like a list of little reminders.

I hate to bear bad news but this feature request has been declined by the feature team.
We’re updating our command library all the time, so keep checking the menu in the command box to see what’s new by typing / or @.
Yes, throwing my comment here, looking forward to the revamp, but I have been looking at integrations with Teams and it's really not done all that well. Having the interactive cards is nice, but it really needs to be like slack, initiated with the @ or / command, but the responses need to be private to you even in the Team channels. I don't want to run commands and integration points and have the rest of the team see them. I also shouldn't have to go to a chat window to do these integrations, that's kind of meh. Pretty sure i'm echoing others, but anyway, it's getting there, I know it's early in the game for you guys and I have faith you will improve this cause I know you guys at Microsoft are using this tool heavily as well :) so that makes me realize good things will come from it.

Right, people are going to pick Slack over this cause of this one issue? Check again, Slack cannot merge channels either lol..... You can export and import data but not a true merge, so try again.
Performance has been and continues to be a big focus area for Teams. One main area we have made improvements in is responsiveness for the most frequent user actions of switching between Chat, Channel, and Activity. We are also focused on reducing resource consumption and application load time. More improvements are on the way.
Thanks for the update Warren, seeing all these changes recently has my hopes up for Teams again, we were in a lul for awhile where nothing seemed to be happening! Looking forward to it!
This isn't slack, I've never had issues with Teams channels and I don't like Slacks setup.
You used to be able to go to the channels tab on the team and see who all has a channel Favorited, not sure why they removed that out of the blue but if that was back it would help, that's my only complaint.
That said I like being able to favorite a channel and not follow it so I don't get blown up with notifications but i can keep an eye on it for new activity, and get alerts for mentions.
Best thing I can say, Mention everyone that needs to favorite the channel, tag them in a conversation and just tell them, hey don't forget to Favorite this channel so you don't miss anything and be done with it.

For this item, we’re making great progress. It has now entered TAP validation with a small group of tenants. Will let you know how that goes!
We’re currently working on defining a compact mode experience. I will post more details when we have more to share.
People this isn't slack, stop trying to make it slack. I cannot stand how compact Slack is, its near unreadable.
That said, the real solution to this problem is give two options. Regular view, and "Compact" view, that the user can pick from, cause if they want that jumbled nasty wall of unorganized text that is slack, they can have it to make them happy :P lol. Win win for everyone.
On that note, I like the subtle changes so far. Keep em coming(where it makes sense)
Drew, grow up. Lei, not everyone thinks Slack is a good UI. I for one think it's very poor, and I prefer Microsoft's direction they are going with the UI so I really hope they don't try to copy Slack, because that isn't a good thing. Teams is missing some features but the UI direction def. isn't one of them.
Please don't say look at Slack, slack's UI is terrible. But I'm disappointed cause we were told soon, soon, soon, now it's like back to the drawing board again. Definatley, need to eliminate some white space on the sides and spread/resize the text area based on window size. Also, always give options, let us choose to reduce whitespace or leave as is etc. Maybe even a theme engine where we can define all the elements and make it our own would be ideal. Then people can make it layout however they wanted.
Teams already doesn't make it new picture and timestamp for replies, the problem is your starting new conversations for every single chat, use it for how it is dsigned with threaded conversations. Same with getting rid of the reply button, that doesn't make sense and is a huge issue for people that actually do use threaded conversations. If anything reply needs to be more defined and the new conversation should be a button.
Other items can't argue with.
Thanks for update Warren, kind of a let down thou because we seem to be told this is coming soon, then deploying soon, to more info later, transparency would be better than just being left out to dry. Even if you guys told us, testing the new UI was bad, and we need to go back to the drawing board or something is better than just sitting here wondering.

Guys, Shared channels basically have same functionality and they are comming. You @mention a shared channel which is cross team, this will basically do the same, and this is actively being worked on.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news. This item has been declined. There will be no work to hide or remove the reply button.
As many people have commented, a big ask is to help improve how people distinguish between giving a reply and starting a new message.
For that the focus will be on this item. “Better visual delineation between `Reply` and `Start a new conversation`”
Ps. Thanks for the update. Smart to not hide it. But I concur with the few others here saying new conversation should be a button or a way to distinguish better than it is.
Product is dead? Your a special kind of dumb. This product once it gets private channels and true guest access will blow slack away. The UI is better. If you want to stay in that platform have fun with flat nasty convos.
Jesse McNaughton - you're going to sit here and try to tell us Slack is a better UI? lol...it's all personal preference. I've used both, even in it's infant state the UI in Teams is better to me and makes sense. There is a reason for it and works great when people do it. It works great for adhoc people together meeting, but you can use chat for that. The catch up mechanic Teams has over slack is much more intuitive for a business to use on a wide scale.
Anyway, no point in arguing. Both UI's fail IMO because they should just give the users the option to use it how they want. You what threads, great, turn it on / off. You want reply button great, show / hide it. You want minimum compact layout, choose that, your used to how it was, leave it default.
The biggest key here is options and that's where I'm not seeing much happen, it's our way or the highway for almost all these new products from multiple companies.
Yes, adding vote for more empasis on the reply button and less on new conversation box. New Convo should be a button at the least. Making reply smaller or out of sight is a very very bad idea.
The feature team is still digging into this item. No decision has been made yet.
Owners can with the delete all chat messages option on currently. Users still cannot. This bot should probably post in the context of the user submitting it, but not sure that is possible.
Your admin changed the chat setting in your tenant. In Teams settings in the admin center you can turn off private chats which will remove this tab.
