Good news, this feature has moved into the planning stages. I’ll keep you posted as we continue to move ahead in development.
It has been 325 since the last update.
This is now implemented:
- Download the latest teams msi
- msiexec /i Teams_windows_x64.msi /l*v %temp%\teamsinstall.log ALLUSER=1
- run C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Teams\current\Teams.exe
This only works on a machine that is evaluated as VDI by the installer, a normal desktop the installer errors notifying you the machine is not a VDI.
We are currently setting up a test track. This is a solution to our issues.
It has been 200 days since the last update.
The near future office click to run installers will be extended with the Teams client. Mind you this will use the same installation techniques unsuable for non-persistant-VDI. Please do NOT mark this uservoice as resolved as was done with the previous unusable MSI version when this version rolls out.

Almost 3 months after the last announcement... Any updates on this?
As Microsoft announced a more forced migration strategy (https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4465277/microsoft-teams-now-the-primary-client-for-meetings-and-calling) from Skype to Teams this providing a capable client becomes more urgent.
Is there any info about this feature so it can be added to our risk analysis?
Right now we are unable to move away from Skype due to client unavailability and Microsoft is threatening to take away Skype.
Great news. If there is a kind of "Teams insider" program I would like to join.
Recent updates on the installer have made an MSI install available. However this version still installs in je user app folder. This uservoice is still valid and unresolved.
Thank you for putting this on your backlog. In fact we have an internal discussion on how to deal with teams today. This is useful information.
This is a requirement for us. we are not rolling out teams because of the install in user profile. an MSI or APP-V is one of the requirements.
As the previous MSI uservoice is closed without addressing the main feature request (per machine basis installer) I support continuing in this uservoice.

Performance has been and continues to be a big focus area for Teams. One main area we have made improvements in is responsiveness for the most frequent user actions of switching between Chat, Channel, and Activity. We are also focused on reducing resource consumption and application load time. More improvements are on the way.
Thank you all very much for the great response. The survey is now closed. The feature team will be reviewing all the data that was gathered and responded based on the findings.
Again, thank you for helping us make Microsoft Teams the best it can be.
