Ok, done here. We are moving to Slack. Complete fail by Microsoft here. I was so excited by the potential here, but zero progress after waiting a year and getting only lip-service promises of progress coming soon... what an incredible disappointment.

It is only staggering until you realize we are just being strung along. I've been watching this actively for 8 months now. There is obviously zero progress. For whatever reason this thing is not being allocated resources at Microsoft and I suspect we'll hear about it getting shut down soon. We've all seen this pattern before.

Ben, you are not alone. I follow 5+ topics on here that get almost daily posts (laments) now. I once had hope. Now, just searing bitterness. I wish I knew a tech insider tipster or something. I'd love for this massive failure to make the headlines on Ars or something.

I am surprised the glaring failure here hasn't made the news yet. Anyone know how to get this tragedy in front of a tipster at one of the tech media sites? I don't think I've ever seen a product by any company get so few updates or changes across so many critical and demanded user feature requests. Its like someone put a prototype in to production and an intern accidentally deleted all the source code and ...

    Seriously, is anyone listening??

Please stop spending MONTHS 'getting it right' with user testing and long meetings. For God sake, we are running our businesses on this software. Implement your change with an option to undo, then see what the user base does. If 80% turn it off, go back to the drawing board. If its 50:50, then let the users choose and bake in Modern and Classic options in you Settings. Whatever you do in the future, please keep in mind that spending 6 months jacking around on a request that has over 2,000 votes and nearly DAILY pleas for help is nothing short of user-base abuse.

I find it VERY difficult to believe that one solution will work for everyone. I hope you have baked in the ability to apply the changes like themes or to at least switch between current (you could call it "Classic") and new ("Default"?) layouts. Better yet would be 3 options; Original (current, Pre-Oct 2017), Professional (probably what you are about to introduce Oct?), and Compact (really tighten it and sacrifice a bit of style for extreme efficiency).

I have been using Teams and following this topic since April. The comments are consistent and demanding. The UI is not adequate, not professional, not useful.

The "Working on It" has been in place by ADMIN since Feb 8, 2017. What is going on? Are we using a prototype written in LightSwitch? Is your development team one kid in the Philippines?

Seriously, can we have an honest update please? Is this product being worked on at all?

Still nothing here. Checked for updates and it says I am up to date. If something has been delivered as "incremental changes" - please take the time to show us before and after screenshots. As I see it, nothing reasonable has been done to address the problem.

And this has been a known issue and established as a much needed/wanted feature FOR MONTHS!!! Seriously, we want to see some progress. We want it now.

The ability to turn off emojis is still being worked upon.

Also, there is work to create a compact mode which will also help reduce white space… which in turn will impact some of the complaints are far as wasted space from the emojis as well, that have been voiced in the comments.

    Stay tuned for more details.

In general the chat experience needs a COMPACT mode. Off, leave it tween-friendly like it is now. On; tighten up everything. Make it lean, mean, compact, and business-worthy!! And yes, there should be options for the team admin - and separately the channel owners - to set/limit the emoticraps to small, medium, and (productivity-destroying) large (like they are now).

My apologies if I let slip a few 'attitude' points here. But seriously, this is a business product.

As the last status states, we have been testing for several months.  Although many people have asked for this feature, we received a similar amount of feedback from other users that they prefer the Teams notifications and don’t want them changed.  We are currently testing a feature for users to choose between Teams notifications & Windows notifications.

We will update you as work progresses.

Due to a priority shift this request has slipped to the backlog. I hate to bring bad news. I will continue to provide the feature team your feedback and votes.
Hopefully this will move back up in the queue soon.
