We are getting closer, and are still working thru some bugs, but hope to release this as part of a Public Preview pack in early 2021! (Windows 10 released with the December 2020 pack this week)

Thank you for your feedback. We’re happy to announce that an option to choose between Windows 10 Native Notifications and Teams Notifications is included in our Dec 2020 Public Preview pack, and will be available to users who opt into Public Preview.

We are now preparing for the roll out of Tasks in Teams which will integrate additional features integrating To-Do and Planner. This includes additional list views that also extend to tabs in teams. Further announcements about additional integration in our overall Tasks coherence effort will follow.

When you select a document in Teams it opens the embedded web version of the Office application which enables you to edit “inline” as you’ve described without having to open another tab. Hopefully, you’ve seen this and tried it out. Thank you!
