Any update would be good please. There seems to be lots of new tweaks appearing in teams, so the dev team are working on stuff. This however is unbelievable that you still cannot delete an entire chat.

On Friday this feature request will be 3 years old! At this rate it will be a teenager before anything is done.

    Happy Birthday for Friday...

I have raised this with O365 support - lots of apologies but no action.

I have direct messaged the Teams twitter account - no action.

I have asked the Teams twitter account if they even look at User voice - apparently they do actively review User Voice. - well this is clearly not true of this topic.

I am at a loss for where to go next on this most basic of privacy features, as all the official channels do not work.

Please Microsoft, just update us on this. If you have no plans to implement this feature I would rather you just let us know.

Wow, I have been following this thread for a long time now, and the lack of updates is unbelievable. Please can this most basic of feature be prioritised. My users are complaining and requesting this feature all the time.

Surely allowing people to delete their chats helps Microsoft with back end storage and management. As for myself, I would delete probably 90% of my private chats as they are completely dormant and were only relevant for that moment in time.

    Come on Microsoft.

Please give a proper update. My users keep asking for this feature, and it is embarrassing for my support team to keep saying that "the feature will be available at some point"

This request is currently number 10 on user voice, how can it just continually be ignored? It is clear that the comments are not being read, or there would be an update, however I will continue to post my requests as the community needs to know what the plan is for this most basic of features.

Please can this be escalated. During the current Covid-19 outbreak, the use of private chats has gone through the roof. More and more of my users are now asking for this feature as they do not need all the history.

Surly this cannot be a large piece of work? Users can already delete their own individual messages, so the core removal code must be present.

If you are worried about a user deleting other user’s messages in the chat, then at least allow a user to delete "All" of their messages within a private chat, instead of having to go through the chat one message at a time. This should be very simple and have no impact on e-discovery, privacy or GDPR as you already allow a user to do it individually.

Come on Microsoft, get a move on with this.

Any update please? From an engineering perspective I cannot believe this requires this much design !

With the current situation we are in, my users have many more private and group chats than they would previously have had. Many of these chats are not needed to be kept for ever.

Having the ability to delete an entire chat including all the meesages inside it is being asked for by many of my users. This is not an archive, but a full delete.

Please can you update us in this.

The engineering team is continuing to work on adding support for multiple accounts on desktop clients. We will first launch support for 1 work/school account and 1 personal account so users can enjoy Teams for work and personal side-by-side. Windows and MacOS. Support for multiple work accounts is still being worked on and will come at a later date.

You can track status via the roadmap here: https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/roadmap?searchterms=68845.

    Thanks!

    partially done  ·  Warren responded

As mentioned in the prior status, the channel limit was raised from 100 to 200.

In the near future a retention limit will be set so you can still go back and reinstate a channel you had deleted. Once the retention period has expired then the channel will get a hard delete which will free up the space and no longer count toward the 200 channel limit.

This will help with some of the issues you have voiced in the comments below.
But I understand many of you wish the limit to be further increased. I will continue to provide your votes and comments to the feature team.

Thank you for your continued feedback. We are continuously improving the clients to use less memory and RAM.

The upgrade to Electron 10 has rolled out fully to the public at this point. Telemetry and testing has shown that this is helping to improve memory performance on the client.

We will continue to work on improvements, and will share more updates as they become available.

For more details on how Teams currently uses memory, please visit https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-memory-usage-perf.

I have 80+ users of teams and have had too many complaints about the high memory usage. Many users are reverting back to Skype as this does not have the same issue.

Currently I have 5 team processes consuming a total of 416 MB. This is a big issue for a company wide roll out.
