Same problem, same use case. I use Snag It to record 10-30 second videos of tasks that I can quickly export and share over instant messaging. I’m able to share the GIF over both Slack and Teams, but only Slack allows the user to expand the image to full size.

One solution that would work for us: make replying to the current conversation the default action, and creating a new one to require a deliberate action.

When typing a response, have the default text there say:

Reply to current conversation. Type @ to mention someone. Type /new to start a new conversation.

To drive home the feeling of separate conversations, prompt for a subject when starting a new one. Keep it optional, but having subjects helps differentiate what's being discussed where and makes it easier to find specific topics while scrolling. If using subjects can be encouraged, that would be great.

Confusion over conversations / chat in channels is the single-most discussed drawback to using Teams over Slack in my org. As it goes, Slack is used for large organization wide chat and Teams gets used almost exclusively for private chat and document collaboration.

The default should be the opposite. Creating a new conversation should be a deliberate choice. Here's to hoping this is what you have planned.

You should experience significant improvements in copy & paste of images within Teams, as well as to & from Teams. We are aware of a few remaining issues, but the most common cases are resolved.

Thanks again for your patience on this one.

I like Teams, but boy does it have some jank. Please fix.

    under review  ·  Warren responded

This feature request is still being reviewed. The team is working hard to make numerous changes with regards to notifications, but they haven’t forgotten about this item.

I hope to have more details soon.

All we need is an option to change the timeout of when notifications disappear, with "Never" being a choice. Presumably capable of being x'd out. I have people in our org who are moving _away_ from Teams because they insist on an IM client that has something in their face until they dismiss it.

This is the #1 problem we have with Teams UI at the moment. It's too easy to start a new conversation. Perhaps Teams could sense whether the new conversation is a reply to the previous one (much like how Outlook detects whether an attachment is mentioned but not attached to an email). Otherwise, when clicking back into the program the cursor should default to the current conversation unless someone explicitly clicks on New Conversation. In practice, this doesn't happen all the time for all users.

This needs to be added for the contact list to be useful. Deleting a contact from one section (e.g. Favorites) and adding it again to another in order to move it seems a bit much :)

This feature request has moved to the planning stage. There have also been several small updates that have gone out already, as well.

I’ll keep you posted as I hear more about coming updates.

Something has changed. Months ago I could search for a string, locate the conversation and click on it to go to the context. Now I can find a result based on a string, but when I click on "Go to conversation," it just takes me to the very latest response--not the past to the actual context I'm looking for.

I work in Facilities Maintenance. We have a few instances in which student employees are unable to access Teams when used by full-time employees. This discourages the use of Teams in those instances, which is a shame because when it comes to a collaborative project Teams can serve as a replacement for e-mail with long CC chains or the use of a mailing list (losing persistent conversation).
