Hi everyone, it looks like this got put as “declined” — I actually have a best practice on my team to NEVER put anything as declined (you’ll see some older tickets have that, that was before my time, folks). So I’m sorry this got slipped through — its not a decline, for the very reason that Mark points out below.
Also special thanks to Andreas for seeing the activity on this closed item and bringing it to my attention.
And thank you to all of YOU for helping us makes Teams better!
I honestly see a lot of people sticking with Skype for Business until it's completely deprecated if the ability to chat with people on the consumer version of Skype from Teams and vice versa isn't added.
More good news on this front! This week we shared our official roadmap for convergence: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Teams-Blog/Roadmap-for-Skype-for-Business-capabilities-coming-to-Microsoft/ba-p/119636
And here’s the PPT deck of the roadmap in case the GIFY makes you dizzy:
Tweet me at @skprufo if you have any questions and I’ll see what I can dig up for you.
Is there any update on this? This should 100% without a doubt at least be in planned phase.
Since a Team allows 999 participants and they can chat in that just fine I don't really understand why group chats are capped at 20 participants. Group chats should have the same cap as the amount of people that can be in a Team in my opinion.
Hey everyone, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the engineering team has let me know they’ve come up against some pressing resource restraints causing them to pause work on this item for the time being. So we’re moving this one to the backlog for now.
However, this is not off our radar and certainly not off mine. We’ll continue to regularly revisit this item with the team, so please continue to lobby for more votes and add to the comments below. Every voice counts and helps. Thank you!!
Hi everyone, thanks for your comments in this thread, tweets, emails and calls. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions at all; I’m here for YOU! I’ll continue to update this ticket as we make progress towards MSA.
Just in case you missed it, there is a FAQs in the Guest Access Help Article. Just click the “FAQs” tab here: https://aka.ms/GuestAccessHelp We’re updating them this week with new questions we’ve been getting, like “Is Guest Access available for Business Essentials licenses?” (The answer is yes.)
Lastly, the team is starting work on Federation so I’ve broken out Federation into its own UserVoice ticket. Please vote and subscribe to updates on its progress here: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103/suggestions/20566714
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the current decision is to not allow the deleting of chat threads. However the ability to hide chats will soon be released.
To access it you will simply click the “…” overflow menu from the left rail, on the chat you wish to mute. A fly-out will appear allowing you to either Favorite, Mute, Hide, or Leave the chat. Look for this by the end of the calendar year!
I have some great news to deliver!
Soon we will be sharing with you the ability of a unified presence! When you click upon your portrait in Teams you will be able to set your status and see it reflected SfB. It doesn’t matter which client is being used (SfB or Teams) they share presence!
Also, when a meeting starts feedback from Exchange will switch your presence to “busy” for your meeting.
Look for this early in the new calendar year! -Warren
