A small update, as this item continues to be worked upon!
The items is part of the public convergence roadmap and targets Q2 (Skype Consumer):
As more information becomes available this topic will be updated.
I honestly see a lot of people sticking with Skype for Business until it's completely deprecated if the ability to chat with people on the consumer version of Skype from Teams and vice versa isn't added.
No new updates. We continue to work towards the S4B convergence.

Is there any update on this? This should 100% without a doubt at least be in planned phase.
We are working on this.
Please note unlimited will not be possible, however we are looking to make a large increase.
This is part of the convergence roadmap – https://products.office.com/en-us/business/office-365-roadmap?filters=%26freeformsearch=teams
Since a Team allows 999 participants and they can chat in that just fine I don't really understand why group chats are capped at 20 participants. Group chats should have the same cap as the amount of people that can be in a Team in my opinion.
Thank you for taking the time to provide additional feedback. The current survey has now been closed.
Our feature team will review the feedback and I hope to provide some additional info in the near future. For now this item will still be flagged as “on the backlog”.
I already provided feedback to the Feature Team about the question of ‘what chat applications you currently using’ only allowed a single selection to be chosen. As well as being clear that the ask is for sharing one’s screen without the need for video calling.
We appreciate your feedback and together making Teams a better product.
This item is on the backlog.
The team is working to determine the best way to implement this requested functionality.
I don’t have any additional info beyond that but I’ll keep working to get more details from the feature team.
No new updates, we are still working away on this.
The unified presence is getting closer to release! It is still in development and planning to launch in Q1 of 2018! (The Office 365 Roadmap can be found at: https://products.office.com/en-us/business/office-365-roadmap?featureid=24191#abc )
I’ll keep you posted as more information is shared!
