Agreed, and using the standard notifications would also allow for using the system-wide 'do not disturb' function instead of having to toggle that separately for the Teams app.

We are getting closer, and are still working thru some bugs, but hope to release this as part of a Public Preview pack in early 2021! (Windows 10 released with the December 2020 pack this week)

The problem with sharing your entire desktop is that you will also share the video thumbnail of whoever was last speaking to you. In large meetings with 20 or so participants, my experience is that some people are uncomfortable being prominently in the spotlight like that (especially if they have been muted for a minute but no one else has said anything since).
