We acknowledge the customer demand for Private Channels and have been hard at work on it. Private Channels is currently in preview with a select group of customers. We expect to release the feature to the public later this Fall, and will update here when we are starting to roll out to all customers. We appreciate all the feedback you have provided to us on this forum and thank you for your patience.

I think the reason this is taking to long is because a private channel would require the relevant folder in SharPoint Online to only be available to the relevant users. This is a architectural change to the way SharePoint works. Either the folders need to have some sort of pseudo encryption or custom direct access groups have to be generated on the fly. Its complicated.
Still, Microsoft should be updating us here on the progress. Its completely unacceptable for MS to keep quiet for months. That's not how modern cloud companies work.

Where is the update on this MS? For the top requested feature, you should be giving weekly, if not daily updates on this......

The communication from Microsoft on this is totally unacceptable.

    Derek commented  ·

"will keep you posted" To me, that means an update every few weeks, not 6 months.

    Derek commented  ·

This is the one thing holding us back from deploying Teams to the business.

    FIX THIS. NOW.

The reply button should not be on the bottom of every message, its a waste of space. It should be anchored to the right and vertically the middle of the message

Performance has been and continues to be a big focus area for Teams. One main area we have made improvements in is responsiveness for the most frequent user actions of switching between Chat, Channel, and Activity. We are also focused on reducing resource consumption and application load time. More improvements are on the way.

You answered your own question there. Slack was developed by a real dev team who cares about their product. Teams is a Microsoft product. As long as it barely works, that's good enough.

    Derek commented  ·

Good luck with this one, efficient coding is at the bottom of Microsoft's list.

The feature team is still reviewing, there is lots of discussion about this item and I hope to have a decision soon.

But a normal reply is meant to be seen by everyone. If someone is not reading the replies that's their problem.

Don't see the point, just reply to the message.

This how Slack, Hipchat, Discord, Whatsapp, text messaging, and every other messaging system works. I doubt your team doesnt buy into it because of this.

Agree, the old smileys and emoticons are outdated and not cross-platform. They should stick to the Unicode Emoji standard.

Disagree. They should drop all the old emoticons and just stick to the emoji standard.
