Hi everyone! If you do not want to use the OneNote Staff Notebook or any of the other default tabs across the various team types, we suggest creating an ‘Anyone’ team instead.

The ‘Anyone’ team will not include any add-ons by default and gives you the flexibility to use Teams however you would like. We understand that there are so many other ways you can use Teams that does not fit the Class/PLC/Staff team template. So ‘Anyone’ will be your best option!

More information on the different team types in Teams for Education can be found here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/choose-a-team-type-to-collaborate-in-microsoft-teams-0a971053-d640-4555-9fd7-f785c2b99e67

Feel free to reply back here if you have additional feedback.

    Thank you!
    Justin

I just want to add to the list of comments here requesting this. I have an education Team and the school automatically adds all 85 of my students to the Team. This is the first semester my school has done this and it's super helpful because I don't have to worry about making sure each student adds themself to the Team. In the past, I have made "anyone" Teams, as you suggested, but you would be surprised how much of a pain it is to get 85 full-grown adults to add themselves to a Team. I have 0 need for the 'files', 'assignments', 'class notebook', or 'grades' tabs in my class. I do, however, need many other tabs that are now hidden because of the four unnecessary tabs. The person in charge of the Team (aka the course instructor) should definitely be able to delete these tabs or, at the very least, move them to the end of the line so that they're hidden instead of the tabs I do need. I would very much appreciate this very small adjustment to your program.

we have this!  ·  Justin Chando responded

If you’re not planning on using the class functionality in Teams, O365 IT Admins can remove the Assignments app in the Teams Admin Center under Teams apps > ‘Permission policies’.

You can set a user policy (remove it for a set of users) or a global one that removes the Assignments app for everyone in your tenant.

Before you do this, make sure to double check if any faculty are using Assignments. We’ve seen Assignments be used in all sorts of ways successfully, even without students. You can always add back Assignments by removing the policy.

You should probably change the status of this from "we have this", because you do not have this... I'm not an admin for my university, but I have 0 need for the 'files', 'assignments', 'class notebook', or 'grades' tabs in my class. I do, however, need many other tabs that are now hidden because of the four unnecessary tabs. The person in charge of the Team (aka the course instructor) should definitely be able to delete these tabs or, at the very least, move them to the end of the line so that they're hidden instead of the tabs I do need. It's strange to me that this was suggested back in 2017 and there are many more recent comments, but it still hasn't been fixed. I would very much appreciate this very small adjustment to your program.
