We are working on supporting more than 4 videos in a Teams meeting. We don’t have a date to share, but will update as we get closer to completion.
I’m excited to announce that this feature is in internal testing, and should be coming soon! Thanks!~ Alex
Skype had this and teams doesn't. This needs to be added.

Thanks for your feedback!
This feature is still being reviewed by the feature team. No decision has been made yet. I’ll keep you posted.
It would really be great if they found a way to bring CONTACTS and RECENT tabs into one. Contacts at the top and recent below it.
Otherwise you end up bouncing between the two tabs (Recent & Contact) Many times your contacts are also in your recent so you end up having duplicated conversations threads on either view.
Giving the option to "Clear all recent Messages" option when you right click on ANY recent message would be a any fix for this.

We’re currently working on defining a compact mode experience. I will post more details when we have more to share.
Last update was on Aug 6th "more info in the coming weeks" Its been 3 months since that update. Any new update?
Density. Not to point out the obvious and be cruel, but look at the market leader in this space. If I put Slack next Teams its a stark contrast of Dense vs NOT Dense.
One "EASY" change would be to move the reply (for threaded conversations up to where the bookmark and thumbs up button is) You've now just eliminated an entire full line of unnecessary spce on every single conversation.
Also the amount of white spaced between every conversation line could also be reduced. The amount of space between channels....same thing.
We acknowledge the customer demand for Private Channels and have been hard at work on it. Private Channels is currently in preview with a select group of customers. We expect to release the feature to the public later this Fall, and will update here when we are starting to roll out to all customers. We appreciate all the feedback you have provided to us on this forum and thank you for your patience.
