This is in progress and committed. We’ll have a solution for you soon.
More good news on this front! This week we shared our official roadmap for convergence: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Teams-Blog/Roadmap-for-Skype-for-Business-capabilities-coming-to-Microsoft/ba-p/119636
And here’s the PPT deck of the roadmap in case the GIFY makes you dizzy:
Tweet me at @skprufo if you have any questions and I’ll see what I can dig up for you.
This should be put on a very high priority. It isn't fun to support both products with so much overlap, and neither work awesomely. Different teams only use Skype...Others only use Teams. Please completely integrate to avoid all the fuss and confusion. Then polish the heck out of it, and iron out all the major bugs.
I know how much you all want this, and I’ve gotten a couple emails asking for an update.
As you likely already know, we’re heads down trying to get Guest Access out the door, so we are not actively working on a Linux client.
Also, we’ll be focusing on knocking out a significant number of user requests in the coming months, but the scope of a Linux client is too big for that time frame. I plan to lobby for this one once we get these other items, and Guest Access out the door.
I really appreciate your patience, and please rest assured I haven’t forgotten about this ask!
Thanks and hope you are all well.
Just build all the features into the browser including video, calling, etc. That would eliminate any need for a thick client. I thought this is why the web was invented, no?
Don't forget an IRC gateway like Slack has. Not Linux specific, but generally related.
Thanks for the responses everyone! We’ve officially put this feature on our roadmap. I’ll ping you again if we need more feedback.
