Still under review by the feature team. Nothing new to report at this time.

Thank you so much for your support of the product. This request was particularly helpful and we appreciate your engagement in the surveys, comments and forum to help us design this feature. Please continue to submit ideas!

For this item, we’re making great progress. It has now entered TAP validation with a small group of tenants. Will let you know how that goes!

I’m so happy to share an update with you! The feature team has let me know that they are working hard at this and are aiming for a spring time release.

Please comment below if you might be interested in testing or TAP, and include the industry, company size, and location of your org. We would likely want to hit a very wide range of demographics.

    Thanks,
    Suphatra

Good to hear something may be on the way. We might be interested in testing (15k+ employees, professional services, in california)

Sorry for the delay on an update on this one! I’m hunting down the status for you and will update once I have it.

Also, if you are interested in participating in testing or surveys for this, just tweet me at @skprufo.

Is there a blog post/article that illustrates the changes? Has the change been pushed to all tenants? Desktop apps will need to updated to reflect the change?

    Chad commented  ·

Both would be good, but I'd lean to density first over compact. Also a big win that i know was mentioned related to this UI enhancement was making separate threads more clearly distinct...so threads don't blur together, and so the reply to most recent thread doesn't blur to the box for a new thread post at the bottom (where users accidentally start a new thread when they intend to reply to the last thread). Is something like this still forthcoming for the UI enhancments?

    Chad commented  ·

any update on delivery of this new UI to desktop?

It has been three months since the last update, so checking in here to let you know this is still being actively worked on. I really appreciate your patience as we work on this.

I hope you’re all enjoying the holidays, and have a very Happy New Year!

    Thanks,
    Suphatra

Noticed it has been over 2 years since this request was submitted. And pretty sure it has been at the top of the list for most (if not all of that time). I gather from survey you all are looking at some additional/related changes, which is fine, but it would be great if MS would just implement the base feature that has been requested here (the ability to change access to a given channel to be a subset of the full membership of the group) sooner rather than later, and then add other changes at a later time if you decide to do so.

    Chad commented  ·

it could be good to be able to @ mention a person in a channel who is not in that team and have them only be granted access to that channel, not to become a full team member.

    Chad commented  ·

we are getting requests weekly to be able to make channels available to subsets of the members of the team (i.e. privatized to that subset of users rather than all members of the team). Without this ability, users have to make an entirely separate team for each different audience. Sometimes a team wants a channel to only be visible to some members of the team, while still keeping that channel within the context of that team (rather than making a separate team/location). Please implement this.

This feature request is still on in the backlog. No new updates available at this time.

I get the save as option, and use it myself, but i also know people in my company that have paid for 3rd party product just to have a drag/drop UI to get emails/attachments into sharepoint; so from a user experience perspective, it can make a significant difference.

Hey everyone! We have this already. Just click the ellipses next to the thread name and select “Hide”.

Note that we cannot provide a “hard delete” due to eDiscovery and other legal reasons.

    Thanks,

    declined  ·  Suphatra responded

Hi everyone, thanks so much for this request.

We have thought this through and decided to prioritize other user-requested items, so this one has been declined. But please don’t stop telling us what you want, because we’re still working to get many of those done. We’re listening and appreciate your support and patience.

This sounds like a duplicate of https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/18767044-sort-comments-from-newest-to-oldest-in-a-channel-s. which means it has more votes. Any consideration of this Microsoft?
