Saw this was in internal testing. I'd be delighted to install a alpha or beta version and help test.

I'm very keen to get this functionality--I can't even begin to estimate how many messages I miss because I don't see the notification pop up so the message sits there unread until I happen to open Teams when I wanted to send someone else a message and then I see I have an unread message waiting for me. The red dot on the system tray icon is identical to when you're busy/in a meeting so it isn't reliable.

Very happy this is now in "Working on it" Status. Woot!

If nothing else, if the system tray icon could change when there are unread messages or include an additional system tray indicator like Outlook does where there is new/unread mail, that would also help.

The lack of reliable notifications for a communication app is simply mind-boggling. It's not a very good communication tool if you aren't aware of new messages that are sent when you aren't looking at the screen the moment it arrives.

People shouldn't have to open up the Teams app periodically just to look for new messages they don't know about or wait for an email alert an hour or so after the message was sent to be notified of a missed conversation. The app should pop up a notification of some kind that should (optionally) persist until it is manually cleared, the app is given focus, or the message is replied to via a quick action (and work across devices, so if message is replied to via mobile it clears the notification on desktop and vice-versa). Yes, all notification options are turned on/enabled as banner+email (or whatever the highest level is per configuration item).

This is also a reported issue for MacOS. https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/16941685-use-built-in-notifications-for-macos

I work for a very large multi-national company and our locale is the guinea pig for a potential Teams adoption across the entire company. Right now I cannot recommend it because of this specific issue.

This should be made the #1 priority above any and all other new features, especially if you want Teams to be a realistic contender for a communication tool. The fact that this issue was first raised in 2016 and it *still* not addressed just doesn't make sense.

Please get this (or some kind of notification system that makes sure users know about *all* of their unread new messages) on the roadmap for the next release.

This feature request is still being actively worked upon. Good progress is being made, but I cannot share any additional details at this time.

While we work on our Whiteboard you can also try the third party whiteboard app Freehand by Invision that can be found by clicking the Store icon from within Teams and go to the app gallery.

Thank you for all the feedback and suggestions.

I need to track my time by the project, and sometimes when things get busy and I have to switch around I missing tracking some of my time and it would be a great benefit to be able to go into teams and search for all chats within a specific timeframe across all chats/channels to help me recall what things I discuss and with whom, without being required to specify other criteria. This would be very helpful. I'd like to be able to search for a specific day as well as a range of days. Preset searches of "this week" and "this month" would also be nice.

This item is still being reviewed by the feature team. No additional news to share at this time.

Completely agree. I did a search for in the results was a message in conversation I was looking for and discovered it was a almost a year ago. While Teams will show me the specific message that matches my query, it will not let be view the message in context of the history/thread so I could follow the conversation. My only option was to go that that user's chat and scroll up, wait, scroll up, wait, scroll up wait, going back week by week for ~51 weeks until I found the message in the thread. It took forever. And since Teams has not blessed us with the ability to have multiple windows open or separate windows, if I need to reply to a different team member or channel while I'm still trying to research this old conversation, then I lose my place in history because when I switch back to the user it takes me to current history and not where I left off so I have to then scroll back, week-by-week again until I get ~51 weeks in the history. This is a HUGE pain.
