I support this option. Due to COVID-19 our entire org (circa 450) have been split into shifts who come into the office being, shift 1, shift 2, 5 days (5D), work from home (WFH). I'm 5 days but have the option to WFH too. So on the days I WFH, my desk becomes available for any one of our team members to use. Not everyone works best WFH, therefore when a desk becomes available those people should have the option to grab a desk if there's one available. Therefore, I will change my shift from 5D to WFH and create (I think... I'm still learning) an open shift for any of our team members to grab my desk if they want it. Actually, maybe I should create a new shift called 'changed to WFH' (C2WFH). I think I'll need to create a shift called 'grabbed a desk (GAD) so that it can be clearly identified to all. With my change and the new person at my desk, the team could identify who did what & that I'm WFH & the team can identify the location of where that person is. I'm a team member as is my boss the GM in a team of 35, so we can work around members not being able to change their shift - but them having the option for people to change it would be an advantage, then we wouldn't have to wait for myself or my boss to accept the GAD option. Giving managers/supervisors permission to accept would be good too, however it'll have to be on a first in first served basis and making them a team owner isn't an option. Your thoughts?
