Retrieve data using the CMD method

By using the CMD method, you can probably restore the data. But, manual methods do not provide any security to recover data safely and securely without losing it. So, Users will use this method on their own risk. I will suggest not to use this method if you want to recover important data.

Firstly, press the “R + Windows” key together and type CMD in the search box
After this, type “chkdsk, ‘drive letter’ /f” in CMD Window. After performing this step, click on the “enter” button
Now, press the “Y” key and then press the “enter” button
    Type in F:\>attrib -h -r -s /s /d *.* and click on enter button

Steps to Convert Lotus Notes Emails to Outlook
This method involves two major steps to import lotus notes mail into Outlook 2016 and all below editions. Some of them are discussed below:

    a) Export IBM Notes emails in CSV file

    b) Then, Import CSV file in Microsoft Outlook

You can transfer Lotus Notes NSF to CSV format with help of following the set of instructions:

Launch Lotus Notes application on your local machine and then, open NSF database files in it
Click on the File menu and choose Export option from the displayed menu
The Export wizard window is opened in which you have to browse the desired location for an exported file. Hit on Save as a type and select Comma Separated Value / Structured Text option
Enter the name of a resultant file and choose the Export button
If you must have selected the Structured Text option then, you can skip this Step. Else, the dialog box appears in which you have to choose the options and press OK button
A Structured Text Editor box will appear in which you have to select the reliable options and click on OK
Till now, you must have created a .csv file of IBM Notes database. Now, you can import this file into MS Outlook program. You can follow these steps:

Open MS Outlook on your PC, go to File menu and select Open & Export option. Then, chooseImport / Export.
Import and export panel will get open where you have to select Import from another program or file and press Next
From the given listed options, click on the Comma Separated Values (CSV) and hit on Next
Click on Browse for adding the CSV file that you have created from Lotus Notes mail client
Once the file adding is done, the radio button of replace duplicates with items imported is enabled and click on Next
Choose the particular folder of Microsoft Outlook in which you need to import data and click the Nextbutton
This may consume a couple of minutes in completing the entire procedure. When this process gets finished, click on Finish to complete email migration from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Outlook.

Migration from Lotus Notes to Office 365 manually with IMAP Connector
One can migrate from Lotus Notes to Office 365 or Exchange with the help of IMAP Connector. Below mentioned are the steps for Lotus Notes to Office 365 migration:

    Backup NSF files
First of all, backup your IBM Lotus Notes NSF files. In case your migration fails and NSF files get corrupt during the migration, you can recover the mailbox data from the already taken backups.
Create new Mailboxes for each NSF user
Now, create new mailboxes at the Office 365 location (with same name as in IBM Notes) for each user who has an account in IBM Lotus Notes.
    Enable IMAP TCP/IP port
You need to enable the IMAP TCP/IP port for each user account. Just follow the upcoming steps to do the same:

Open Domino Administrator in the Lotus Notes Application.
    Go to the Configuration tab.
Open the Server document which executes the IMAP service.
    Click Ports>Internet Ports>Mail tab.
In Mail (IMAP) column, change the ‘TCP/IP port value status’ to Enabled.
Click the Save button to save the changes and close the application.
    Synchronize with IMAP Connector
Finally, use IMAP connector to synchronize mailboxes between Lotus Notes and Office 365. There should not be any issue in the connection now.

One of the most common operating tasks is when a user contacts the helpdesk to restore single items like emails or tasks. Since Exchange 2013, there is no expensive third-party tool needed to do that. Each user is now able to restore his own single item during the retention time we have set in the policy. The retention policy is by default set to keep the single item for 14 days.

Using the single item recovery as a “secondary Recycle bin” enables the user and the Exchange administrator to recover mail items, even if there were deleted from the Deleted items folder (the “formal” Recycle bin).

To be able to use this “secondary Recycle bin,” all the user has to do is just to use the option of “recovery mail item” that is a built-in option in the Outlook or the OWA mail client.

In the following screenshot, we can see an example of the mail recovery option (Recover Deleted Items) that is available when using the Outlook mail client.

    backup Exchange

The recovery option enables the user to see the content of the “secondary Recycle bin” (the single item recovery partition).

This feature can also be used in the Outlook Web App (OWA). After logging in to our mailbox through OWA, we hit the right click on the Deleted Items folder and select Recover deleted items…

From this point, we are able to restore our Items we had deleted.

Things you need to know before you begin-
Estimated time to complete: 10 minutes to configure the migration batch, but total time to complete the migration depends on the number of mailboxes included in each migration batch.

You need to be assigned permissions before you can perform this procedure or procedures. To see what permissions you need, see the "Mailbox Move and Migration Permissions" section in the Recipients permissions topic.

Hybrid deployment is configured between your on-premises and Exchange Online organizations.

If you're running Exchange 2013, make sure the Mailbox Replication Proxy Service (MRSProxy) is enabled on your on-premises Exchange 2013 Client Access servers.

For information about keyboard shortcuts that may apply to the procedures in this topic, see Keyboard shortcuts for the Exchange admin center.

The Microsoft 365 or Office 365 Exchange license must be assigned only after the migration is complete. You then have 30 days to assign the license.

Export mailbox as a PST file
Login to Outlook with the Exchange account that was used to create the OST files. And to export the OST mailboxes to PST, follow the simple procedure:

Go to Files >Open & Export and click Import & Export.

Select Export to a file; then click Next.

Select the second option—Outlook Data File (.pst)—and click Next.

Select the folder which you want to export and click Next.

Browse the location where you want to save the new PST file and choose the options regarding the duplicate items.

Note: There is an optional choice to provide a password to the PST file, but you can easily move ahead without choosing it.

    I hope this helps.
    Best Regards

Use ‘Archiving’ to save OST emails to PST
By enabling the Auto Archive method in Outlook, you will be able to save the items of OST file in a separate PST file. This method helps you to keep the size of your mailbox manageable. When the size of the mailbox grows and there are multiple messages that are older and you do not require them to be in the mailbox, then you can put them in the archive folder easily. Follow the simple steps to enable auto archiving in Outlook.

Launch the Outlook application, go to File, and click Options.
Go to Advanced and click Auto Archive Settings.
    Auto Archive Settings

Now select the number of days in which you want to run auto archiving. Select the folder to save the archived file; also, provide the archiving options and finally click OK.

With this, mailbox items from your OST file will be saved to the PST file as per your archiving settings.
