Voice Messages Need a Lot More Work...
The voice messaging feature needs more work. Right now it's so inferior to the voice message experience on WhatsApp.
If I'm listening to a voice note on my iPhone and I lock my screen, then the voice note stops playing. In my personal life I receive many voice messages (some of them more than 3-4 minutes long) from my friends and family that I want to hear while taking a walk or doing things. It's impossible to do it if the voice message stops playing when I lock my screen. This doesn't happen in WhatsApp, Messenger, etc. I'm not playing a YouTube video, it's just audio. I don't understand why the audio needs to stop when the screen is locked.
I can send a voice message as a standalone message. However, when I want to reply to a particular message, then the only option is to enter text. Why can I not reply to a message with a voice message? This feature also exists in WhatsApp.
Ability to record a voice message without having to hold the recording button throughout. This is extremely painful when recording long messages. Whatsapp allows you to swipe up the recording icon and record without having to hold the button.
Ability to see which voice messages I have played already and which ones I have not. Not critical, but nice to have feature. When I get many many voice messages in a row and I listen to them in batches, this helps me keep track of which ones I've heard / not heard.
Brilliant request. Voice messages seem to always be an afterthought. Thank you for highlighting all the deficiencies!
