Remove Phone Number Requirement for Personal Microsoft Accounts
Teams for Personal Life requires a user to have a phone number with SMS to use/SISU to the App. Being that this is Teams for Personal Life/Family, our hope was that we could use this in place of Skype to communicate with our children. However, I am unable to sign my children who don't have phone numbers into the App...
Which makes it useless to our family.
We had actually started using Slack earlier in the year, but stopped and decided to wait for Teams to be ready (which of course took longer than expected), I even moved my kids off iOS to Android so we could use Launcher and Family Safety (also late to the game), and now this.
I know this isn't a global issue with Microsoft accounts. In fact, I've never seen this happen on any other Microsoft services.
Needs fixed, like yesterday.
Seriously. Their Teams site even says "... bring family and friends together to call, chat, and make plans ..." and yet I can't sign up my son's account for Teams because he doesn't have a mobile phone number. He's 10 years old. He doesn't have or need a cell phone right now. How in the world does a large trillion dollar company not have a solution for this?
the requirement for children to have phone numbers is crazy. kills teams as a family tool
I have my phone number registered with my work account and I can't add the same number to private account, therefore I can't add private account to Teams.
