Give teachers the option to assign spots.
An assigned spot on the screen for each student would be helpful in tracking participation. If a student turns off their camera, I would like to see a black box, instead of them just disappearing. The black box would remain with their name. I would like this assigned spot to also stay if a student leaves the meeting.
There is a big difference between downloading the attendance list and tracking participation. I want to make sure everyone is actually there and participating. (Shocking, but high school kids log in, turn off their cameras, and then go back to sleep or play video games! Haha) I can tell them to keep their cameras on, but if someone turns it off and I happen to notice a change, the only way to figure it out is to stop what I’m doing, take a screenshot, and cross reference it with my attendance list. Or run through attendance again.)
I’d like to add that there should be a symbol to show that they left the room so we know and can try to call them back in. My kinder class had a hard time navigating the meetings at times. A log of when the left and came back would be great on the attendance tracker.
