Team calendar for a channel, not linked to personal outlook
I am assisting a coworker on adding a Calendar to a Team Channel that shows birthdays and anniversaries of people on her team.
There is no good way to have a Team Channel Calendar that only shows the Team Channel Calendar. There are wikis, notebooks, folders/files, and other items for the Channel, but not an individual calendar.
The current workaround is to go to the SharePoint site the channel is overlaying, create a SharePoint calendar, sync it into her Outlook, add the appointments within Outlook, IMPORT the appointments into a calendar she created, and then MOVE those imported appointments from the newly created personal calendar on her profile to the SharePoint synced calendar so that it will show in SharePoint.
Once it's in the SharePoint calendar, we used the URL link to link directly to the Month View in the SharePoint calendar so that the team calendar showed in the tab.
Its a PITA to do this. We don't want the calendar overlay that exists now, because it is based in Outlook also shows the individual's calendar. Unless a user is savvy enough to turn off their personal calendar in the view, they will see more than what they may want / what we want them to see. There are plenty of users who are not savvy enough to do this, or have enough time to tinker with Teams to find that checkbox.
Having a dedicated app, like planner, or OneNote would be nice. Even if it's just linking to the SharePoint calendar. That is fine. I am ok with that... but the extra steps of having to go in and get the URL to link into Teams, instead of something already there would be nice.
