Teams drains Mac battery
Teams is draining my Mac battery. I have a new computer this year. Never an issue with any other program. I am using the cord it came with. After a 45 minute Teams meeting I am down from 100% to 77%. For comparison, a one hour Zoom meeting the battery went from 100% to 99%. This is completely unacceptable. I spend half of my day on video calls. Please fix it!
Unfortunately, the first I knew of this issue was during a 2-day online training that we hosted. We are fairly experienced with Teams Meetings, Teams Live Events, and this was our first experience with Teams Webinar. It is our understanding that Webinar and Meetings use the same engine. Each day the MacBook Pro (9 months old) the battery drained rapidly at about 1:30 in the afternoon. This brought our Webinar to its knees both days. We had this same event in March, 2 days, using Teams Meetings, never had a problem.
I believe that the majority of responsibility lies with the Apple hardware and OS. However, if we had any indication that this was occurring, we would not have used the MacBook Pro. Microsoft should have notified us of these issues via your regular notices. It would have saved us a great deal of stress and frustration.
My goodness. The Teams app for macOS is so inefficient. My battery and also my customers reports the same problem. It's just a disaster.
