Application unresponsive while typing messages/switching teams/etc
Recently my colleagues and I noticed that the UI in Teams is getting more and more unresponsive over time and even completely unusable at certain moments.
Cases where this happens:
- Opening a (group) chat and trying to type a message. The application will take up to 10 seconds before the UI becomes responsive.
Even after letting Teams "recover" for some while it's still incredibly difficult to type a message. I can type full sentences before they are visible in the chat area.
- Switching between chats or teams triggers the above behaviour. In addition it freezes the UI completely.
- After leaving a group (video) call the behaviour seems to be worse (could just be a coincidence)
It almost feels like Teams is loading something in the background. Like it is somehow keeping the application busy with too many refreshes or checks and just delay the commands I send to it.
You have Microsoft Teams Version 1.3.00.9271. It was last updated on 22/05/2020.
macOS Catalina 10.15.4
on an year-old channel when multiple ppl starts typing lag can kill teams (80+% CPU uasge and complete lack of response) for over 2 minutes
Let me say that again
because someone is typing...
Windows 10 1809
I have just started using Teams in my environment, I noticed when I have a meeting where I am the presenter and have more then 6 people with their cameras on during a meeting the application starts becoming buggy as you add more participants with streaming cameras it begins to become unusable for all participants. If you stick to only the presenter having their camera on it seems to perform great as long as there are less then 6 camera streams. Going north of 6 streams and it starts breaking for all users.
Same issue experienced in DHHS NC FAST, this is affecting productivity within Teams use.

Same issue. Seems reproduced when I'm typing and someone else is typing in the same chat. Lags for 5-7 seconds very often. Very annoying.
Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6
Experiencing the same problem. It is extremely draining and the program struggles to keep up with VERY basic things like switching from one conversation to another.
When I type, the program is unable to keep up with what I am typing. After I finish a sentence I have to let it sit for 10-15 seconds to catch up. This issue is exclusive to Teams; I do not have this problem with any other programs.
In addition, over the past few weeks I am having a new problem: New messages coming in are extremely delayed. I am receiving the notification for messages up to half an hour after they are sent. On several occasions I have gotten dozens of notifications all at once after my team discusses a crisis for a long period - and I am useless to them because I don't get the messages. I have resorted to giving coworkers my cell phone number and asking them to text me if there is anything crucial because I cannot rely on Teams messages being prompt.
I initially thought this may be an issue with my work laptop, but after installing the program on my (brand new) personal laptop to see what happens, I have the same problem.
I have also been having problems for several months with calls. When someone calls me I hear the sound but see nothing visually until after the call is gone and I have "missed" it. I again thought this may be related to my work computer (perhaps my display settings) but sure enough I have the exact same problem on the new laptop with no external monitors connected or other special settings.
I have followed suggestions such as disabling the GPU acceleration as others have tried... no luck.
Same issue for me: win10 1809

We are also having the same issue. Signing out and in again does not resolve it unfortunately.

I experience the same issue, to me it seems like it is related to when someone else is typing.
