Cannot share application window (not whole desktop) on Linux client
Application: Microsoft Teams Version 1.3.00.5153 (64-bit).
OS: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, x86_64
Device: Lenovo X1 Carbon gen 5
The Linux desktop app does not allow sharing an application window. I can only share the whole desktop. This is not practical on a display with a 21:9 aspect ratio.
The web client supports sharing an application window quite well on Linux, but the performance is not as good as the desktop client.
Can sharing a single application window not be enabled for the desktop client?
This is doable, as other software is able to grab specific windows (for example OBS). It does not make sense to not have this feature in the Linux client, and thus forcing to share the whole desktop.
You won't want to share your whole desktop if you are using an ultrawide monitor or 4k screen. That's a pain for your team members
This is Operating system independent, and occurs even on Windows 10. Windows opened after the start of the meeting cannot be shared. The workaround is to share the entire desktop and magnify the window you are trying to share.

on ubuntu 20.04, desktop sharing works well for me, but I don't use it much because I need to share apps, not a 4K screen.

Even sharing a complete desktop does not work for me. It just presents a full screen black box.
