Share Screen does not function when sharing desktop
When I share my Desktop on either Screen #1 or Screen #2, the person I am sharing with only sees a black screen with my mouse cursor. If I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling, clearing my cache, ensuring I have the most current version etc. I have tried sharing with multiple people and all of them only have this issue with me.
If I share one window, share screen works properly. This problem only occurs when sharing desktop.

I think the issue is with mostly those are using docking stations. I have checked with quick assist as well but the situation remains the same. I am skeptical if it is really teams issue or we need to configure some setting for sharing screens after attaching the docking station, as everything works fine if I take off the docking station and attach the monitor using an HDMI cable directly to the laptop.

Even after having Teams latest version and updated all the windows patch while screen sharing only able to see the cursor and black background.
We're running a Gen2 Lenovo docking station with two Dell 1080p monitors connected to a Lenovo laptop.
Teams Version: 1.3.00.30866 (64-bit)
Sharing desktop - Black Screen
Sharing application works.
Workaround for us:
Disable Nvidia GPU

I use both Zoom and Teams. Zoom seems to rescale the screen appropriate for whichever device someone is using. Teams does not. With more people working on larger displays, and having meetings with mobile teams on small screens, any screensharing tool needs to be able to resize graphics appropriate to the device. Please add this feature to resize graphics while sharing to keep up with other screensharing technologies.
Pretty certain this is a 4K monitor-related issue.
This has also been happening to me for a little while now.
Same issue for me. I use my machine via RDP and I can share specific applications with other users but if I share my screen the viewers can only see a black screen.

I've downgraded to 1.3.00.5153, too. My resolution: 1280x800 (virtual screen size: 1680x1050).
In 1.3.00.16851 my shared screen is black.
OS: Devuan 3 (~ Debian 10 without systemd)
In version 1.3.00.5153 sharing just one screens works for me. I installed new client 1.3.00.16851 and my shared screen goes black. Resolution 1920x1080.
I've reverted to previous version.
OS Ubuntu 18.04

My resolution is set at 1920X1080 and I'm having the same issue where users are only seeing a black screen when I share my screen. I'm also runningthe latest build as well. Any ideas?
Why would you treat 3440x1440 differently than any other higher or lower resolution? What is special about this so that a bug could even be created?
It's horrible. Then if you do get to see the screen. They can never get the pop up for giving you access.

Worst thing about this problem is that it used to work fine for me on 3440x1440. I found that if I use 3840x2160 I can also share my desktop again. It's like they've hard coded the black screen of death when people have the resolution 3440x1440.
Like Tyler, I've also experienced this behavior when sharing a screen with 3440x1440 resolution. The workaround has been to lower the resolution.
I've had several reports of this issue too in the past couple weeks. It seems to be related to running 3440x1440 resolution and sharing an entire screen.
Microsoft, please look into this. The only workaround is to run the display at 2560x1080
