Print malfunction when trying to print directly from the Teams desktop app
Symptom: a user is opening an office 365 file ( I have tried with Word and Excel) and choose to edit in Teams (that means the user is only choosing edit. Not edit in a browser or local application.).
Then, the user want to print the document (which is now open for editing in the Teams desktop app). The user chooses File – Print.
The ‘Print’ menu is shown. When the user clicks the Print icon, there shows a popup from Word saying: ‘your PDF-file is ready to print’ . There are two buttons in the bottom of that popup: ‘Close’ and ‘ Open PDF’ when choosing ‘Open PDF’ – nothing happens.
The user expects to se a dialog where she can choose a printer, but this dialog never shows. I could se as well that the app is ignoring the printer which has been configured as default in Windows 10. As mentioned above, the choose printer dialog is never shown. The PDF file that Teams app has mentioned is not to be found.
It looks like the issue is limited to the Teams desktop app. I have tried producing the issue on team from a browser but here, it looks like it is the browser print module that is taking over. Everything works as expected.
The same is also when the user choose to open the file in the (locally installed) desktop app. Also here works print as expected, it is (for example) Word print dialog that is shown.
