Webcam on teams is dark and cannot change settings
Using a Microsoft Lifecam on Windows 10 with Teams is a no go, the image is extremely dark and there is no way to change any camera related setting. meanwhile on Skype and other video apps, the camera brightness and other settings are automatically adjusted and it all works fine. Skype also allows the settings to be manually changed.
As it is, Using a Microsoft Lifecam on Teams is impossible

Zoom added a function to it's calling called "Low Light Adjustment". In my house I have windows behind me and later in the day the light comes in most there...so Teams does not compensate well for it. I look like I'm in a cave. lol.

Reading lots of workarounds, but not seeing a fix. It shouldn't take super users to get Msft hardware to work with Msft software... imho

Hi,
I solved the problem and it is relatively simple.
It seems that for some reason the Microsoft Teams Video engine is shared or is part of Skype Engine, which is why Teams has no option to configure the Camera options.
However, although the camera can work properly on Skype, it is there that we have to access the camera settings, remove the automatic adjustment and adjust the video settings manually.
You will verify that in Teams it will display the correct image.
I hope it helps.
Best regards,
LR

I am using a lifecam cinema with a surface book (my keyboard blocks the built in camera on my desk) and it also works great in every app except teams. Teams it's always too dark.

Sometimes it's too dark, sometimes not. I have sufficient forward and downward lighting. I can't figure out the pattern for when it's "too dark" to be usable. Restarting Teams helps sometimes.
