Teams Outlook Plugin creates meetings with wrong tenant information after tenant switch
I'm using Teams with different customer's tenants. Unfortunately, I'm not able to switch between the tenants directly (described possibility to click on the arrow next to my user’s image is not displayed), so I need to logout and sign into the different tenants manually.
If I do so, team's outlook plugin doesn't recognize the tenant change for a while and meantime creates meetings in outlook with the tenant ID of the tenant I've been logged in before or – worse – is mixing up the invitations between different calendars (in calendar A the meeting with tenant B credentials will be created, in calendar B the meeting with tenant A credentials will be created).
Teams seems also not to prove, if the calendar where the meeting is being planned, belongs to the currently logged in Teams account email address. So, you accidently can create meetings with wrong credentials and later Teams will not allow me to join the meeting I’ve been organizing myself, because in this constellation you are an external user to Teams.
After closing Teams and Outlook several times, the Teams Outlook plugin is using the correct tenant ID / credentials again.
Expected behavior is:
- Outlook Plugin recognizes to which tenant the user is currently logged in as soon you’ve changed the tenant or at least after restarting Outlook.
- Outlook Teams plugin needs to prove if the user tries to create an online meeting in the calendar which belongs to the user which is currently logged into Teams. Otherwise the creation of the online meeting should be rejected.
In addition: Please implement a possibility for fast tenant switching or to run multiple instances of Teams at the same time. For me as a freelance consultant it’s really hard to organize online meetings with clients using MS Teams.

I can confirm I have the same problem. I'm a guest on one of my clients teams - even if I change tenant in the teams app Outlook seems to be always trying to create meeting links to their tenant.
I think it should be as simple as use the user for the owner of calendar or maybe allow the ability to chose the from in the invitation for the correct tenant. The way it is now it is almost unworkable except for one of the tenants.
