Breaks on Windows 10 Teams App
Microsoft Teams Version 1.2.00.17057 (64-bit). It was last updated on 7/1/19.
Worked before but don't know exactly when it stopped working.
This works in the Teams webapp.

maybe denying write permission on the cache folder helps ( %AppData%\Microsoft\Teams\Cache )

problem also rose in an enterprise environment, prety annoying when you want to introduce teams and channels and end up with broken pics.

Please clear the cache upon exiting Teams. I will then select the option to exit teams upon closing the program. This should fix the issue medium-term until a permanent solution is found.

1-Oct-2020 and it's still broken ..... is it really that hard to fix for such a common feature - users sharing screenshots - ???

This occurs every day.....deleting cache fixes it for a short while, so does restarting Teams

This still occurs.

Same issue here. It reoccurs every x weeks.
Temporary solution is then to delete the folder contents of %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\Cache
as suggested by B. Ford -

Same issue since the beginning of the year. This hasn't worked. I paste a screenshot into a chat in the desktop client, and I get a broken image icon. I exit the chat and go back, and the picture shows up. THEN, I try to click on the image to make it bigger and I get the broken icon again.

I get the same issue. It reappears even after deleting the cache in appdata folder.

Happening for us in version 1.3.00.21759 both 32 and 64-bit. We have to log out and back into the client to fix it for a while until it happens again. Could really do with a proper fix.

I get this issue regularly. It seems clearing out the cache in the appdata folder solves it temporarily, but that's quite a laborious work around!
%appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\Cache

Same here. Open a issue at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams/image-not-visible-in-chat/m-p/1618652#M70224, no response. This is a huge problem in the platform. Please fix this and please vote on this topic.

I'm having this problem too in the web version using Chrome on my Mac. I can't use the desktop version because it can't login most of the time (https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/908686-bug-reports/suggestions/40215751-can-t-login-in-desktop-app)

Its now April 2020 and this is still not fixed.
Now more than ever do we need reliable software to fight the virus but it is still broken the whole copying an image in the chat.. -
