Please allow the upload of Folders. Not just a file.
We would like to be able to move folders from other areas to the File section of Teams. To create a folder and then upload files to it is too much work, especially if we have several levels of folders within folders.
1,086 votesThank you for your continued feedback. You can now upload folders, including sub-folders, from your system into the Teams channel files tab using either Drag & Drop or the Upload Folder option. Ability to prevent students from editing files
If Files is going to replace classroom then the owner of the team needs to be able to decide if a file can be edited or not. Some files i need my students to be able to edit for homework, others i do not want them to change so i should have an option which enables or disables edit function for members when i upload a file.
336 votesWe are excited to share that the read only folder, ‘Class Materials’ now comes built in to the Files tab of every class team! You should now see the Class Materials folder on new class teams as well as your existing ones.

Sort Files alphabetically or by creation date
Default File Sorting
I cannot find how to change the default file sorting. Currently it defaults to time uploaded. Whilst I would much prefer to sort it by title of file.I spend time ensuring that all my files have good filenames so that they sort. I cannot find how to change this default.
138 votesWe are happy to share that the column sort order can now be preserved in the Files Channel tab!
Please see the below SharePoint documentation for creating and updating custom views of a document library. This is now honored in Microsoft Teams.
Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks so much for your feedback. We are excited to share that you can now share files with your students that they can read but not edit using the ‘Class Materials’ folder in your General channel. This is a great way to share documents like syllabi, school rules, and reference materials with the class.

Read only access for a Security Group in Azure AD
I would like to be able to restrict access to the files in the multiple Teams channels to read only. This would allow for our students and the researchers we support to have different levels of access to the files, and allow them to use the other functions such as conversations.
