Many of my classmates either have androgynous names or use pronouns that others might not assume (they/them). For non-binary and transgender classmates, it's hard to know how to refer to them. In many cases, pronouns aren't on teachers or students minds', so students accidentally get misgendered. Having pronouns next to names (maybe optional) would be an easy quick-hand way of communicating the best way to refer to your peers.
We love this idea – thank you for submitting it. We’re reviewing how we might deliver on this.
Preferred Pronouns: He, Him, His

As a nonbinary trans person who uses they/them pronouns myself, I would greatly benefit from the addition of pronouns to MS Teams

Adding this feature would be very helpful. It is so easy to forget, especially when teaching online. Having pronouns next to names would help teachers like myself to remember and respect students' preferences.

As faculty, I very much support Laura's petition. The MS Teams group has impressively implemented many new features since this Covid crisis began, it would be terrific if this feature could be implemented as well.
I fully support this! Let's make all spaces more inclusive.

I think this is a great idea to help students feel more seen/acknowledged/respected by their professors and peers! While I am cis, being misgendered seems like such a disheartening experience that could be minimized by making pronouns clear from the start.
While I don't personally use this program myself, I have friends who do and I fully support this idea! As a non-binary person myself, who uses pronouns not commonly thought about by most, I know the horrors first hand of being misgendered by those around me. I think this would be a great way to avoid the issue!

Due to the online format, there is a disconnect between student and professor which makes it difficult to feel comfortable correcting being misgendered. Having a way to have pronouns easily visible allows for a more polite and simple way for people to feel included. Being misgendered due to the lack of communication available leads to students not feeling comfortable around professors, and likely from that not being able to learn as effectively. Having an option to have clearly visible pronouns would be a simple solution to increase inclusiveness and decrease discomfort and anxiety surrounding the issue.

As someone who is non-binary and is often misgendered, I would definitely like to have this within the classes. It would be great to help make the students feel more safe and comfortable within the teaching space, now that things are online.

For the upcoming Fall semester, when many schools will be partially or fully online for the foreseeable future, a feature like this would be great for facilitating the proper use of students' pronouns. Without it, trying to avoid misgendering anyone will be clunky and difficult.
This would be a good addition and is important. It can only help make Teams a more inclusive service - and better serve the needs of the individuals who are relying on Microsoft Teams to represent them virtually. Microsoft, please show them respect by providing this needed addition. Thank you.

I feel that this is important because online classes create an atmosphere where it is more difficult to correct teachers (and other students), even if you are polite. So this would help with that. From a logical standpoint, this would be effective, as being misgendered often makes it harder for students to focus in class. It can increase depression and anxiety, which is counterproductive to being in class. It is a simple feature, but helpful.
Additionally, I imagine this would look something like the "Roles" option on Discord or like the "user flair" on Reddit. Something like that, with options for students to select if they wish to do so. Hopefully that gives a better idea of what this idea would look like.

There should definitely be an option for pronouns. As we have all switch to online learning and working. There should be an easy way to identify peoples gender and pronouns to avoid misgendering in the school and work environment. There needs to be option. As many of my peers and myself have been misgendered and no room in the online format to correct peers and teachers a like.
