Analysis and insights
Insights is good at a classroom level however it would be great to get similar data at a school and trust wide level..
As a director of digital learning I would like to be able to run insights style analysis via the teams admin console to a far greater depth than the current analysis allows. I would like to be able to be able to see things like how many teachers and which office 365 accounts have set teams up, be able to group them via subject and then look globally at assignments set, hand ins, latest, time spent on assignments, I would also like to be able to do this via year group, students etc. In addition to this I'd like to be able to model the feedback time for individual and groups of teachers.
In England we have multi Academy trusts, where groups of schools come under the same leadership, so I would also like to be able to model this data trust wide as well for all schools, users, teams in my trust.
The real power would be if this could be modelled in powerBI so it could be presented to Principal's, trust boards etc.

This is coming—-please keep the feedback coming.

You have described a very good management system. This is what I aspire to and study computer science, I want to make it easier for teachers and managers who work with such systems. I got interested in this a few years ago when I decided to check https://phdessay.com/free-essays-on/computer-science/ where I read a lot of cases on how automation can help simplify many processes. After that, I began to study this in more detail and finished the course in time and now I am working on creating more useful functions in such management systems.

This is essential for pastoral purposes to keep track of how students are engaging with learning across the school

The summary sheet on the CSV export needs to have more details about meeting attendance, similar to the summary assignment tab. We need to be able to see how many meetings have been set for each class and how many of them each pupil attended and if possible average length of attendance eg % time as some pupils log in briefly then log out again which is recording as having attended.
Being able to get this data at a departmental level would be great, especially if you could get this without being a member of every team

Update - really need a simple assignments report tool!
Today, I was asked to generate a report of all the assignments set to a single student Isolating due to Covid. I needed to provide both the date assigned, due date and status.
Process: I had to add myself to each class, run a report from Grades for each and combine them. And, the reports only show due date.Is there an update as to when this might be possible? Each day that goes by we have a different set of students isolating - we desperately need to be able to report on this for leaders in the School. Thank you

It would also be good to have a break down by class assignment to see what assignments are being set and how much students are engaging with these.

There has been an update to Insights this week that is definitely a step in the right direction - well done!
So, we can now see breakdown analysis for each class that we are a member of, and also get a report of the hand-in rate per assignment. This works well.
For me as admin, I need a single click report that will give me a list of all-school students, all their assignments by class team and the hand in data alongside. Granted this would be a lengthy report.
But, we also need to be able to do this by teacher, for quality assurance.
Keep up the good work, thank you -

I agree fully with the descriptions here. I am currently adding myself to class teams to access individual student and whole class data. It is an impossible task with over 900 class teams.
Using an overarching Insights system would work well BUT it is important that not all staff get insight into all classes. We could apply this using an app setup permission policy.
Then, for the insights over all classes: we need to be able to filter by a teacher, or a student, or both, also a group of classes or a single class. We need to be able to track activity, assignments issued, assignments handed in, feedback trends.
Commenters have mentioned the need for PowerBI integration, but my opinion is that if the all-class-insights was implemented well enough, this might perhaps negate the need for direct PowerBI integration?

Great feedback -thank you!
We’re adding capabilities to the Insights app in Teams to help educational leaders understand the online activities and achievements of students. Within the Insights app, we’ll provide detailed visibility into digital learning activities so that leaders are better equipped to support educators and students. This is coming soon. -

Completely agree.
Heads of department (Maths, science, etc..) all want to see the insight analytics for their subjects (all classes that are maths based).
Also the head of year would like to see the UK take and usage for each year group.
With the COVID outbreak it would be really helpful for a view of uptake if students, and an inverted list (I.e: who has not logged in and engaged).
Platforms like show my homework have this and we can see at a glance how popular and used the system is with kids and teachers.
A simple list of teams with basic usage would be great, a powerBI template perhaps that we can tweak for our naming conventions?
Thanks M
