Add a URL LINK In TEAMS, under File>New.
In Files it is possible to add a word doc, excel, powerpoint, etc. I would like to have a feature that allows me to just add a url link that will take the user straight to a resource on-line or a website.
Yep, it works on SharePoint but doesn't in Teams, it's shame.
It has been asked in this topic too : https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/599053-schools-and-universities/suggestions/34963429-create-links-in-teams-files

Yes, just as can be done in the modern SharePoint Document Library via New > Link choice. Doing this in SharePoint creats a .url file that redirects to a website when clicked in the SharePoint web browser experience. But that .url file when clicked in the MS Teams interface (Files tab of corresponding channel) does not open the browser, rather it prompts the user to download the .url file locally.
