Add a global admin setting for the default role of meeting attendee
If you want to make meeting attendees Participants by default (so that they can't present, mute you and remove from a meeting), then you have to manually change meeting options of a particular meeting and set "Who can present?". Today this option can't be set globally by default in Teams admin center. Please add this feature.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re happy to announce the ability for admins to change the default value of ‘Who can present?’ in Meeting Options in the Teams client via the new parameter, DesignatedPresenterRoleMode.

When you create a Teams meeting, by default, why is everyone set as presenter? I think this is sacurity fault.
why would you do that

I totally agree! I will add to it and suggest that it should be possible to setup in TAC attendee role to a group. Assigning the role in TAC to individuals will not work for admins in big organizations. Especially schools where users traffic is significant. I read that an update is on the way https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=&searchterms=63206 I hope it will serve that purpose as well.

Thank you for adding this feature. We'd like all the students invited to a teams meeting, to arrive as attendee by default. Then teachers can upgrade them to participant if so desired. To be able to put all students as attendee in group policy would be so incredibly helpful. Thank you,
@Alex does this also restrict who can record a meeting or does this only apply to sharing of content?
Will this be for all meetings, scheduled and meet nows?
This is so desired. Mr Jeremy Chapman (MSFT) spend time to record video on youtube about this topic and he seems to be not aware that if you add meeting in channel, all attendees will join with option to share by default. Organizer must to change to attendee mode individually one by one.
On top [options for meeting] even setting organizer to be presenter only it not applies for channel. Neither you can specify presenter (error - not possible in channel).
Students keeps muting each other, remove people from session. So annoying...
Last but not least - why when I schedule meeting with class in Outlook I can't specify Team and Channel and vice versa - when I am scheduling in Teams and select Team and Channel I am unable to use group Office 365 that contains all teacher and students, but needs to add 24 students by single name... really? Please speed up! I love teams, but these annoyances are driving me nuts!
This feature is needed please inform me when it is available. Please add a raise hand option when students need to speak and allow the teacher to call on who will speak to keep the order by adding a raised hand emoji or something and have the responses go in order of who chimed in first to be called on.
or at the least show the student who is muting me and other students so they can be dealt with accordingly

In addition, we have to save a meeting FIRST, and THEN go back and edit it just for the option to appear. When creating a NEW meeting, the option is NOT THERE. This frustrates our Teachers A LOT!
I'm shocked this isn't an option already! Please allow it soon. Thanks

in the current constellation, the student is able to initiate a meeting, but is also able, without the permission of the teacher, to kickoff other students from the meeting. This could be resolved by restricting the student’s eligibility for teams at the rule level. However, you cannot start a timed,
straightforward, or invitational meeting. And the teacher must set that the
student cannot kickoff others from the meeting initiated by the educator one by one. A good solution would be for the student not to have the opportunity to start a meeting by default, but the teacher can give him or her permission to do so if he or she sees fit. So this will not be an opportunity but a merit. In this version, there is also less configuration, not 24 hours for certain settings to take effect, but less. Thanks for the help!

We desperately need this, it would be our number one priority as we are a high school with 1300 students.
There is need for a teacher to mute all students during the class session so that no student can unmute from his/her side. Please make this available asap
There should be a "make all attendee" option once you are in a meeting, just like the "mute all" option.
Please make this page available in Safari.

This will be very useful, thanks!
Will we be able to ALLOW a student to share his/her screen to make a presentation to the class?
Nerlie Alexandre commented
Yes, please and I cannot wait for when we can have even more control of the meeting, like seeing everyone's face, having breakout rooms, etc.
Yes please! This is needed in both scheduled meetings as well as ‘meet now’ meetings. It is not practical for teachers to manually change all students individually while also trying to manage the class behavior/teach.

It is a MUST HAVE feature. Every time we need set meeting options and the meeting must be pre-scheduled so it's really annoying.

This is a desperately needed feature and a terrible flaw. We actually cannot run the classes without it. Not having it there provided a negative start to our classes and was the last thing we wanted under such stressful conditions. Thank you for understanding the urgency and having it roll out asap.
