Virtual background of the video in a meeting
Add a virtual background feature where you can block out the original background but it is not just blurred, it is fun and exciting.
We are happy to announce that pre-selected images for background settings on desktop is rolling out to the public ring this week. This includes some special images that are appropriate for EDU customers. We are continuing work to support user-initiated custom background images as well – stay tuned!
Meanwhile, feel free free to follow this item in the main UV forum – https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/38824921

would be good to have a delete button to remove unwanted custom backgrounds - cannot access the appdata on work laptop

The backgounds addition is good and the fact you add your own by going to %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Teams\Backgrounds/Uploads and then adding your own jpg images is good. But I am working now from hom and need a background to just be there not after I edit it. It needs to be default.

Hi, I'm using Windows 10 too and my Microsoft teams don't have the background or blur effects. How do I enable it?If I can't, Add it to Windows 10.(I use a webcam.)

This is great and many users are already putting it to use. Two comments I have already received:
1) This is great, I would really like the ability to set the background as a default so its there as soon as I join a meeting.
2) Is there any way to mitigate the shadow effect (halo) that appears when I move around.
Pretty sure the second question is best answered for the user to have a solid color wall behind them and/or the GPU of the physical system. Anyway, great job MS, look forward to more features. Users have been very impressed and excited in the transition from Skype and Zoom over to Teams!

My iPad, iPhone and Mac All has Microsoft Teams app! I am Trying to change the background during a virtual call by tapping on the three dots during a virtual call but it is not giving me the “select background effects” option to change it! I need help to figure out why the virtual background change is not enabled on my devices.
Indeed. Instead of completing the background effect (which is nice for showing off to colleagues the very first day only), a 4x4 view would have been appreciated a very long time ago and used on a daily basis...
And if anyone is interested in a custom background: You already may use a jpeg or png-file as custom background image... the relevant folder is C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams\Backgrounds\Uploads. Optimal size for my screen is 1920 x 1080 px... If you cannot find this folder, there are some other "/Backgrounds/Uploads directories" being shared on the web...

I'm sure there is more important things to work on in Teams than camera backgrounds..
I would like to select a default background so I don't have to select for every call that comes in. This app is used very often throughout the day and it is cumbersome to select a background on every call. Thank you for your attention to this request.

It would be really great if users can select their default background and Teams would remember default for all meetings until the user changes. Honestly, it's a great feature but a bit of a pain to apply background in each meeting and each call.
It would be good to have a set of administrator approved/enforced backgrounds in formal meetings both classic Teams and Teams Live.
Possibly enable the organizer to choose the background to be enforced for Presenters/Moderators in a Teams Live meeting.

Why isn’t this function for the app too?
You can add custom images to this folder and they will be available in teams: %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Teams\Backgrounds/Uploads

Awesome! With version 1.3.00.4460 on Teams for Mac (updated this morning 14 Apr 2020), the personalized/custom background works great.
Microsoft, please delete this and transfer votes to the main one
