Prevent students from starting a meeting unattended
It would be very useful to be able to prevent students from starting a meeting unattended, regardless of what type of meetings it is.
This because, when working with younger students, the best option is that only teachers can start new meeting (with other teachers and/or with students).

It would be useful to be have a function that forces students (or anyone except the organiser of the call) to wait in the lobby, and then the organiser can admit the students/other users one by one.

It would be very beneficial to have a function that forces students to wait in a lobby before joining a call. This way, a teacher could meet with a handful of students privately without other students randomly joining in and sneaking into a conversation. In addition, it would be beneficial because students would not be able to start a meeting on their own. I had this problem the other day where a student somehow made a meeting and 2 other students joined in without me being present, which is definitely a safety and privacy issue.
It would also be beneficial to have a "mute all" button where you can automatically mute all of their mics. Not sure if this is actually a thing already, but would be really beneficial to have it so you don't have to mute their mics one by one. -

Dear, You can try this way, but this will be work better with Class type Team. Make your students as attendee using meeting option from scheduled meeting into calendar and mute your students > manage team > goto members list of team their you will mute option for all and selective. choose as per your wish. After doing all of these your student can not start meeting as usual. they shall get the attached screen on their device screen. if you really wish to disable them for video call and chat permanently then follow meeting policy for your students. hope this helps.

We are a K-5 school - I would love this option!

I am having this issue with my first grade students. Some of them are starting/joining the meeting 30 minutes before me and I do not like this for safety and privacy reasons. I like a feature where I am the only one who can start the meeting, then they can join. If they've already hit join before me, they would automatically be put in the meeting after I start it.

Teams is a wonderful program for what it is designed to do. However, it assumes the use by educated adults who have been trained with a minimum of meeting protocols and and who possess an understanding of the big picture if they do not conform--ie: loss of employment!

Afraid if you don't provide a way for students to work together in a "Sub-Team" within TEAMS, with our without a "Teacher" present, - the older (3rd - 6th grade) students will use Zoom for school work and right now - I don't think that is school districts want to see. Just saying.

Seems important for safeguarding and child protection issues -- particularly during the current lockdown

Our Students often collaborate in small groups during instruction time as well as outside. If this was enacted there should be a way to still enable some level of student initiated call/videocalls.

At my school it is now policy to use Meeting Scheduler, so this feature needs to be part of Meeting Options there as well.

Hi, we were able to achieve this using calling policy and app setup policy

This is very very important in Schools and should be applied also with powershell for selected teams. As it is very important to define the option "can present" as "Only me" default.
Those are very important -

There should be some kind of grouping as certain students might need to create a video meeting for group work and home work after school. "All or nothing" would prevent young students from collaborating outside of school hours on projects.

Make 2 Policies-
1 Policy for Teachers with chat option and private call enabled and 1 policy for students with chat and private call disabled. If the teachers wants to have a one to one call with a student, they should create a Team, then initiate a meeting and invite the student using "invite someone" option using the participant pane. -

While adding organizer privileges, please give organizer complete control. 1) They can mute someone and they stay muted 2) They can't be removed from meeting 3) They can block video
Thank you so much for making these changes and supporting us. You folks are doing GREAT!!!

We do need to be able to set district wide policy not allowing students to initiate calls or meetings.

We have disabled private calls, chats and student meet now in channels via the appropriate policies. Basically, our students can only interact within a teacher-moderated team and they can only join a teacher-created meeting, but not schedule one or do meet now.
However, there are times when it would be useful during remote learning for a teacher to be able to private call a student. Currently there is no way to do this, or less we would also be enabling student-student private communication.
The best solution would be to separate control over scheduling/starting/making private calls from control over receiving them, and make these two different things. If we could flick a switch in our student policy to allow receiving of private calls that would be perfect.

We would love this feature! I have students who may need 1:1 help, but I have turned off all chat for lower grades, because they were using it for their own private facetime environment.

I am in year 10 and having to self-teach a lot of subjects. Being able to interact with other students is good to discuss ideas and topics but also for our well-being during this difficult time. You clearly don't have a gsce to prepare for and don't understand the importance of peer work. Younger students would/should have parent supervision anyway.
