Prevent students from starting a meeting unattended
It would be very useful to be able to prevent students from starting a meeting unattended, regardless of what type of meetings it is.
This because, when working with younger students, the best option is that only teachers can start new meeting (with other teachers and/or with students).

When this update would be fixed ? Some of the students , continue to see the message that the meeting hasn't started yet. And , its solved when the professor ( organizer) start the meet. Although the feature has been disable, some users still seeing this message.

Any sign of this update being fixed and rolled back out? What timescale are we looking at?

Sincerely, if there's any policy that Microsoft should've taken into consideration when first launching Teams is to avoid "Students" or attendees to start a meeting before the host... it just makes no sense, how come Zoom has this option? this is with far the most important policy out there.

How can I setup to permit students to join before the educator?????
If students attempt to join the meeting before the educator, they won't be able to join the meeting in the latest version of the Teams app.

Add this feature also that not only orgainser but if any teacher is there than students can join as sometimes it do happen that a teacher organizes a meeting and another teacher is co presenter and if organizer teacher leaves than it policy should allow students to join as teacher is already there even though teacher is not organiser

I appreciate what you have tried to do here but it still does not work in a way that is at all useful, basically what we need is:
For both Web and Desktop Teams:
- the meeting should only begin when the organiser joins/begins
- the meeting must end when the organiser ends the meeting - this means all participants are automatically removed and cannot re-join.
- when muted, participants remain muted unless unmuted by the organiser.Basic, fundamental stuff for use in a 'classroom'.
Also ties in with:
https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/40091788-prevent-users-from-joining-meeting-after-it-has-en?page=1&per_page=20Imagine a situation where there are participants intent on finding a way to undermine and disrupt! :)

Just one to consider can it be set at meeting options level. Our teachers create private channels for break out rooms and hop between up to 4 or 5 of these during a lesson.
Hopefully the change only affects the general channel

This update doesn't work. We have no way of forcing our students to a) use the app at all (most of them are accessing via web) and b) update their old version of the app. It needs to be active across all versions of teams, not just the app.

Please can you attend to this as a matter of urgency? Plug the loophole on old apps and browsers please! I am trialing MS Teams with my class and have primary aged pupils accessing meetings by themselves and continuing chats after I've left the meeting. They can then re-enter the meeting after it's finished when I'm not online! This is a major safeguarding issue which has prevented our school from rolling out the service to the whole school during lockdown. What a disappointment. We will now have to look elsewhere for a safer option until this is resolved.

If the students use an old version of the app - it won't work... seems like a bit of a hole in the plan there my friends!
