Prevent students from starting a meeting unattended
It would be very useful to be able to prevent students from starting a meeting unattended, regardless of what type of meetings it is.
This because, when working with younger students, the best option is that only teachers can start new meeting (with other teachers and/or with students).

We set those "Only me" features, but students are starting meetings from other scheduled meetings that remain on their calendar.

If you want to see something similar for individual meetings see:

When kids are in school they can talk before and after class. Teachers do not want kids to talk during class so they should let them talk before and after. Private chats (which have now been disabled in some schools) are also a good thing and I am glad I can use them.

This is annoying. Our admin changed the default and most of the teachers changed it back. This is not something admin should be in charge of.

The meet now has been removed in my school.

Please remove “meet now” option from students and only they can join when there is an organizer in the meeting.

The lobby doesn't stop kids from clicking on "Meet Now"

Me as a student is saying that we should be able to start a meeting unattended because what if u need help and you and your teacher need to do a meeting without everyone else in it

We need others to be able to start the meeting for teachers who become ill/absent. Also, a secured place to discuss these issues so students can't get just browse and get ideas about how to cause problems by reading these threads! (!!)

Starting and ending of meeting should be controlled only by meeting organizer.

So when you say coming soon, do you have a ballpark date?

This is a great update. But it still doesn't prevent students from creating chats outside of teacher created meetings. Students are able to send private chats to their classmates, to students outside of their class, and to students in different schools by going into the chat icon and starting a chat group. Teachers have no way of knowing if students are doing this (until it's reported by a student or parent) because it's private chats that can only be seen by those who are invited. This is causing a lot of problems with bullying, etc. The private chat feature needs to be blocked for students.

@Gordon Chang. I hope that function will be implemented ASAP. The University is starting again. The opportunity to avoid students to start alternative meetings on the teaching meet "in parallel" with the official meeting opened by the professor, it is essential for the teachers. The option "Only me" for the Lobby is not equivalent because it is avoiding the students to enter in the scheduled lesson, but NOT to start an alternative one and makes jokes. And the best way would be to enable/disable that option, once implemented, on a single basis by the professor (e.g.: a team for the students may require that; a team for the colleagues, not). Thank you! F. G. Pizzetti

I also asked that! Hope they fix the bug. For us teachers is very important!

Ya know, honestly I as a student have attempted to start a meeting or two that wasn't meant to be started, but instead of starting a meeting I got a blue error screen. So I guess this isn't a problem for my teachers. :)

We also need more than just the meeting organizer to be able to start the meeting. TA's, Admins, any presenters need access to start the class meetings.

Students are able to copy a meeting link (in scheduled meetings or “meet now” meetings) and start a meeting that is completely unattended. Students can even open and join a canceled meeting (that is still visible on the student calendar in Teams).
The “Coming Soon” update needs a status update. School is back in session and we need this resolved now.
Thanks!

Teachers can already end the meeting for all attendees...they can either click the menu button on the call controls and select End Meeting, or if they have the new meeting experience, click the down arrow on the hang up button and select End Meeting
