Hard mute students in a meeting (so they cannot unmute themselves)
Teachers should be able to mute students voices in a way that they cannot dis activate. This could be used for lecture. Or to stop students interrupting on purpose.
This feature request is being reviewed by the feature team. No new details to share at this time.

Hi Gordon it’s been two months since your last update are you able to provide an update on progress.
Live session gets out control when young students play this unmute/mute game. Please only give teachers the control of unmuting students.

it also would be nice to connect this unmute to the raise hand feature. If they are muted raising hand would allow the teacher to unmute them.
I would add that not only hard mute feature must be implemented but also remote unmuting by a teacher as well. 1-st grade kids just forget how to unmute themselves. Moreover, I would think about to mix this feature with "raise hand" like - student cannot unmute himself until he raised a hand.
Without this feacture Teams is useless for educators since students create chaos by speaking irrelevant things and hamper remote learning and I am surprised that this feature is just under review

I have 4 groups of students, the smallest of which has 27 kids. If Teams is to be used as a tool to hold online classes of high school students (among other age groups) this becomes a classroom management requirement and should be integrated immediately. We are literally without ANY other tool that we would ordinarily be able to pull out of our bag of tricks when teaching in a live classroom.

This is needed as soon as possible. It is extremely difficult to conduct a lesson when unable to maintain control.

I will be running my first Live class next week and am reviewing all the info I need to know! Reading that the students can unmute themselves even after I mute them is scary. How can I keep control of 30+ students if they can constantly interrupt. Since I cannot see all of them at once it makes it even harder to control. Honestly, if I had not already sent the info out to parents and students saying we were using Teams (almost everyone else in my school is using Google or Zoom) I think I would use something else. This feature needs to be moved to the top of the priority list!!

By the way, the methods of controlling all the classrooms should be with the Teacher. It is necessary that this feature is only with the teacher, not with the students.
Still Hard Mute Or There should be only "Tap to Speak" button for students.
The students can even mute teachers. And more whimsical and dangerous thing is there is no way to track who muted who. Lol. It is until students track out this and make it unuseable after that.

I cannot have classes on Teams meeting because of the disruptions. I teach 5th graders and in the current lockdown, they do tend to get over excited!!
We have had to conduct classes on Zoom, yet all the teachers at my school would rather we use Teams and keep everything in one place for ease of log in for the students.

But the teachers must be able to unmute the individual students as and when needed.

A teacher should be able to take attendance by saving the present participants/students list.
Totally agree with making them all mute till we finish speaking as presenters and option to mute and unmute to be with us.......Also, RAISE HAND with criticality levels can also be integrated......may be with a flash or pop up message with restricted word limit.
Is it possible to add a function of 'not allowing attendees to unmute themselves' to the meeting desktop?
As a host of a meeting I would very much appreciate if I could mute the participants and unmute them by myself.
To cut the long story short I would like block the attendees from speaking until I have finished with me speaking.
The same function would be very helpful for the meeting leaders during public and private channels.
Looking forward to hearing from you,

It would be nice to combine this with a "raise hand" feature.
