Duplicating a Team with existing files and content (creating a template course)
It would be nice to be able duplicate files and content as well from a previous Team (something that can be done now on Google Classroom). As it is now, one can duplicate a Team but is an empty shell. Having the possibility to duplicate all the files and other materials (minus students and assignments) could help curriculum managers create course templates for their teachers. This would speed up the Team creation process, especially for those courses that are frequently repeated within one academic year and for those colleges that have hundreds of short courses that repeat every term.
I agree that it would be most helpful if we could transfer a complete Team to the new year of students in one go rather than having to copy all files and assignments over. Also being able to unassign an assignment would be very helpful.

Been waiting for this in education but disappointed in how it is lacking. For Education, Files and content being missing is a major missing component. I my environment, each Program cohort has its own Team. Each Team has multiple learning modules (channel). Each Channel Has its own teachers with their own developed class notebooks and teaching resources (from pre-Teams). Cohorts from the same program share many resources and now we will need to replicate them manually instead of being able to indicate during the template build whether or not we want to include them in the template.
Ideally, having the optional ability for each Channel (learning module) to have its own class grade book , having assignments separated by channel (instead of all assignments in instructor view being in one pool) would be much desired. MS should not be thinking that each instructor has their own team for every class taught. MS should not think that instructors create teams. End meeting only happens when the organizer (scheduler/team creator) ends the meeting. Designated Presenter/Instructor should be able to End the meeting. Also only meeting organizer/scheduler can get the attendance report. The burden on the instructors for reporting class attendance has not changed. The class organizer/scheduler should be able to designate additional organizer/presenters (instructors).

When I create a team for next years cohort all I can do is create from existing and get channel names, but all the content uploaded in files for example is not copied. I need to be duplicate a team for next year without having to spend hours uploading files and worse still I will have to coordinate with all the other lecturers to show them as well.
I was trialling Teams for my institution, due to the Covid and working from home the whole institution is using it for teaching, if they have to redo the whole team for next year I could see many staff turning their back on it and all the hard work gone into to building up confidence and competence will be be lost. We have around 10,000 students so we need this to be achievable asap.
We need to be able to duplicate a Team including files, you can just reuse assignments, so its the files bit that is key.
I hope for a simple solution... Thank you!!!

I don't want a new Team that is based on a previous Team to have the resources added to it when the Team is created. Some of the courses that I deliver run for 2 years with the final exams at the end of the 2 year period. I have now created a "Master" Team (it has taken almost 18 months to get right) which has the correct Channel structure all files that are needed for the course and links to external resources. In addition, the OneNote for this Team is also complete and includes notes and activities. The recent developments in OneDrive means that I can copy content from one SharePoint Library to another Library thus giving the students the files as and when the time is right. As each of my Class Teams has their own OneNote I am also able to distribute content to them, again, as and when the time is right.

The biggest issue for my teachers is they have spent work creating assignments with lots of great detail, and they are going to have to re-create all of the details for these assignments next year. Having a template where the assignments could "live" and be re-used even when we archive/delete teams once the semester/year is over.
