Increase maximum meeting participants to 500
Currently, meetings are limited to 250 participants.
We have several departments within our organization containing 250-500 employees.
Because the current Teams meeting maximum size is 250, we use other applications to host meetings for these departments.
We would like to be able to use Teams for these larger group meetings.
Please increase the number of participants in meetings to 500.

We are expanding the limit for Teams meetngs from 300 to 1,000 active participates. Similarly, we are including a view-only experience for up to 20,000 people. For more information on the Advance Comms SKU which will include this experience, please visit https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-add-on-licensing/advanced-communications.
Please see the roadmap for more details: https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/roadmap?searchterms=65952

Great news Gordon! I saw this post on the increase to 1000 participants but no dates. Do you have an estimate when that will be GA? Thank you

In discussion with colleagues at other Universities, class sizes are often either 300 or 500, and it would be helpful for it to be at least 300 as 250 is a bit small.

This is still lower then WebEx, which is 1000. With Skype on Premises we regularly hosted meeting with over 1000 participants.

Many companies could use the larger meeting sizes.

Hi Gordon, any update on this? I would like to reiterate this is needed beyond the education clients. This should be enabled for everyone.

Lennar Multifamily Communities is larger than 500 associates. Teams cannot be used for Town Hall meetings.

We have org-wide manager meetings, this would be very important part.

We have around 2500 students in our school. Now we are planning to conduct key-stage wise assemblies therefore it is better to have a minimum of 600 participants.

We have 1200 in our dept connecting from various countries. Using Teams for all our sectional meetings but it's really good if we can have all town hall meetings also through Teams. 250 is too small in numbers Please increase the number of participants in meetings to the maximum capacity. So we need not toggle between WebEx and Teams.

Hi Gordon.
If the same functionality as a live event : Q&A with moderation, lager participation list and mute all by default, easy org wide link to send to participants was offered as part of a team meeting then it would serve us very well. No need for any external method to encode or producer/moderator. -

Hi Gordon, any updates on this? I am losing my CEO townhalls to Zoom as they allow up to 500 users in a meeting. Live Events is not what we want, as it is not as interactive, people cannot ask questions, and the video delay kills the flow.

We need more than 250 per meeting -- and we're not ready for Live Events. Please increase the number of participants in meetings to 500.

Agree with the last comments. This is useful beyond the education realm. This is for everyone.
Any updates on this? It is hard to believe this would take days to decide when there is no net new software functionality and Teams is backed by the great O365 network and Azure servers :)

this is key for enterprise, not just education. people at our company are pushing for Zoom and this 250 limit is a big factor (along with breakout rooms, handraising, etc.). 500 would be much better than 250. this is used for large organizational meetings. Live events cannot always be used because there can only be 15 of those at a time, and those do not allow the interaction that meetings do.

Some cross department events scale to over 250 staff and 'course wide' or all 'university school' are similar too. Stepping the meeting capacity to to 500 would really help us.
