Remove "Staff Notebook" from Microsoft Teams for Education
I am not sure if this is a bug or not but we are using Microsoft Teams educational licenses. We want to use the Teams for our internal staff departments first. For some reason the setup of teams includes extra educational features like it force creates a OneNote tab called "Staff Notebook" in the General channel of each team. the OneNote includes a lot of classroom type customization that we do not want/need. Our departments have their own OneNotes. I cannot delete Staff Notebook tab or even rename it. I can add and delete other OneNotes but we want a clean set of tabs. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting rid of this? Thanks.
Hi everyone! If you do not want to use the OneNote Staff Notebook or any of the other default tabs across the various team types, we suggest creating an ‘Anyone’ team instead.
The ‘Anyone’ team will not include any add-ons by default and gives you the flexibility to use Teams however you would like. We understand that there are so many other ways you can use Teams that does not fit the Class/PLC/Staff team template. So ‘Anyone’ will be your best option!
More information on the different team types in Teams for Education can be found here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/choose-a-team-type-to-collaborate-in-microsoft-teams-0a971053-d640-4555-9fd7-f785c2b99e67
Feel free to reply back here if you have additional feedback.

this is so annoying and stops me ordering the tabs in priority
Frustrating - please allow deletion or rename of staff note book
Please enable deleting of staff notebook
Please allow deleting of staff notebook
I created a mock notebook to check it out and now I am stuck with an unusable notebook that is named what the real notebook would be named. It would help if I could change the name but deleting it would be even better.
please let us move/ delete the notebooks tab at will on teams. I hate notebook its garbage dog poo. its no good for education, to confusing and terrible to use
It's the labelling at point of Team creation that is causing this issue. Our 'Anyone' team is called 'other' which actually is the team type that we use the most. The word 'other' is a bit vague and meaningless.
Staff who are new to teams will automatically choose 'staff' team type - and then get lumbered with a staff notebook they don't need or understand.
I would like to have to option to remove the default notebook that gets created for a team site and use and existing one instead.
I do agree that for the notebook that is created by default with a team:
1) It can be renamed
2) It can be replaced with an existing notebook
3) OR upon creation of the team, you add the option to merge with an existing sharepoint and all files get copied over along with notebook.
This is not only necessary it will help you sharepoint users adopt teams.

Honestly MS, this is such a poor design! Just let people delete and/or rename the tab! Go poach someone from Google to help with your creative team.

Why can I not remove or move Staff Notebook - I have no need for this function? Very frustrating.

I accidentally clicked Staff Only while in the Students Notebook ..this automatically deleted the tab for Students Notebook. Can you please let me know how to undo this action
Poor UI design. Please build in a feature to let us rename "Staff Notebook" to a name that's relevant! Thanks.
I must be having a first-world problems moment to be so annoyed at MS Teams not letting me simply remove 'Staff Notebook' - I take some gratification that I'm not alone in thinking this is rubbish and draconian UI instantiated marketing. Please sort it out.

Justin, is there a way to migrate content and conversations from a Team that was created under the template that locks this tab in? Our Staff Notebook tab used to work but is now broken, meaning we'd like to get rid of it. The fact we are struck with it causes regular confusion for some of my less-technical coworkers.
This was an issue before with the integrated SharePoint sites, which has now been resolved. Please change this in relation to the Staff Notebook.
This is beyond foolish that you can't remove a section like this. I so wish we just had the non=school version of Teams.

Or hide on the bar or relocate on the bar in the interim.
Any updates to being able to remove "Staff Notebook?" In our school, we do not have the luxury of being able to create an "anyone" type of Team without a default Staff Notebook. Our Teams are created through certain protocols/processes, which mean they come with Staff Notebook.
How can I remove the Staff Notebook from taking up tab space, as it will not be used?
please remove the staff notebook

Please, please, please enable an option to remove the "Staff Notebook" tab.
It is an obvious and intuitive solution, which is available on other tabs.
If we need to create the Team again, We will have to delete the Team and Email Group (e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org) and then recreate and add all the Members back into the Team/Group. In the process, we would lose all our Group and Team Tabs, Channels and Posts history and have to create all the Team tab and Channel contents again.
It would be much easier to just hit "delete/remove".
