Remove "Staff Notebook" from Microsoft Teams for Education
I am not sure if this is a bug or not but we are using Microsoft Teams educational licenses. We want to use the Teams for our internal staff departments first. For some reason the setup of teams includes extra educational features like it force creates a OneNote tab called "Staff Notebook" in the General channel of each team. the OneNote includes a lot of classroom type customization that we do not want/need. Our departments have their own OneNotes. I cannot delete Staff Notebook tab or even rename it. I can add and delete other OneNotes but we want a clean set of tabs. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting rid of this? Thanks.
Hi everyone! If you do not want to use the OneNote Staff Notebook or any of the other default tabs across the various team types, we suggest creating an ‘Anyone’ team instead.
The ‘Anyone’ team will not include any add-ons by default and gives you the flexibility to use Teams however you would like. We understand that there are so many other ways you can use Teams that does not fit the Class/PLC/Staff team template. So ‘Anyone’ will be your best option!
More information on the different team types in Teams for Education can be found here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/choose-a-team-type-to-collaborate-in-microsoft-teams-0a971053-d640-4555-9fd7-f785c2b99e67
Feel free to reply back here if you have additional feedback.

Assignments tab, class notebook, staff notebook... Forever visible but can't remove.
It's crazy that we cannot turn these off. Does Microsoft not realize that a metric ton of schools run their own LMS and that these features just cause confusion? This isn't something we can just easily communicate to thousands of employees across dozens of sub-organizations.
This is literally the only reason we are not deploying Teams. It's great otherwise, in our pilot group at least.
Microsoft, if you want Teams adoption, you have to give us more control.
Most staff in big Universities don't actually teach students (e.g. researchers, administrative staff, etc). Having non-removable features specialised for teaching simply because of an educational licence is naive and just clutters the interface, making it less usable for research teams etc.

I've just come back to teams, and this is really annoying me. I have a few teams I made about a year ago, and they don't have the notebook, yet any new ones I make come with the tab even though I don't want it.
I can understand "Files" being mandated, but I feel like the Notebook is only usable in certain circumstances.

If someone finds out how to do this, post it on these suggestions so others can remove it. Very annoying to have unwanted tabs taking up real estate. Great if you want it, but this should not be a forced option. Also the same situation for Assignments.

Yes. I don't know why we need to clutter our Teams tabs with something which just isn't relevant to us. Not all Education users are in teaching/classroom settings.
Also it has caused a bit of confusion amongst my team as we try and introduce it. So it's affecting adoption. All I can say to my teammates is, "Sorry, we can't get rid of that, just learn to ignore it."
we use the PLC notebook (can't make it into a staff notebook automatically) for everything as our QA folder, so i can't agree with this one.
Ability to delete staff notebooks that are automatically created and appears in the tabs within each channel.
Would love to know how to get rid of the Staff Notebook tab too!!

Agreed, and wish this was upvoted! I would love to be able to remove the Staff Notebook Tab, or at least be able to push it to the back of the group. You can delete the notebook itself in site assets, but it doesn't remove the tab. I wish the notebook was optional instead of forced in the General tab.
