Upload Assignment Files Larger Than 50Mb
Our Music Tech class wants to use Assignments but we can't upload our videos as they all much larger than 50Mb. Most of our videos are at least 500Mb. Would it be possible to increase the maximum file size? Thanks :)
We have now updated the upload limits to 500 MB for students. This change is now in production

Any updates to share? This item has been pending for two years and is, in my experience, the greatest hindrance in fully adopting Teams.
If they do this won't the file be deleted when their account is deleted.when they leave the university?.some kind of integration with MS stream for submission of video assignments might be a better solution? At the moment we use a Kaltura integration with our VLE to provide this functionality.

We have CAD students with the same issue. More effort for both the student and the teacher if a link is provided. We need to make sure that content is not adjusted after submission which is possible with a link so invalidates that process. This does not accommodate all schools which is disappointing. In 2019 a 50mb limit is ridiculous. We also have IT students looking to submit their work such as scripts etc and it does not support the file types. Its SharePoint storage in the backend so why restrict this.
Yes that's what we want too...... Up to 200MB would be nice
This was brought to my attention today. I've just gotten through instructing Teachers to use Teams Assignments instead of OneNote (for record keeping purposes, and workflow) and this is a showstopper.

An assigment is saved to a library in the sharepoint sitecollection of the Team. What are/ is the motivation to divert (drastically) from the upload restrictions of a library 15GB?
maybe there could be some compression used and some file types. that would also be awesome.
The 50mb upload limit is making Teams unusable for us.
Here’s some examples where Teams file size limits have forced teachers to look for an alternative (and produced a growing anti-teams sentiment which is disheartening as a IT admin)
11 Physical Education:
Students have to submit a multimodal presentation (mp4) with footage of gameplay.
Students have to submit a range of files from student films (mp4) to 3D renderings etc.
Students submit a multimodal presentation with voiceover and video (.pptx or .mp4) > 50mb
Students submit a series of RAW images > 500mb.
Students submit cad files that can exceed 500mb.
7-10 Digital Technologies
Students have to submit a .zip game file that can exceed 500mb with game sounds/assets/etc.
Students submit a .mp4 demonstrating functionality.
11/12 Digital Solutions
Students submit .mp4 videos demonstrating the functionality of a coded project.
I can gather more examples if that would help the Teams team? These are just ones that I’ve had to help teachers with in the past week. Sure, word docs are fine, but as soon as teachers want to do anything remotely creative, Teams falls flat.
Can we please have either a setting that allows IT admins to choose the limit, or if it’s a concern with student upload time have a UI that gives them feedback (“It looks like you’re uploading a big file, this might take a moment”)? The current solution of limiting files to 50mb means teachers are moving away from Teams for all assignments, not just large-file assignments.
50MB is tooooo small for assignments I think. Please increase so students can upload also bigger files PowerPoint and VLOGs
I agree, 50MB is tooooooo small. Why not the same as in SharePoint?
Come on Microsoft Teams team. Why is this not the samen as in SharePoint?
If the 50mb file size limit is going to stay in place and the work around is to upload it to onedrive and share a link, then can you build that functionality is so it happens automatically.
in a 1:1 environment with multimedia projects 50mb simply isn't big enough.
