Read receipt in conversation - see who has read a post in a channel
Now I post a message in a thread/conversation, but I have no idea how many has read it.

This feature request is being reviewed by the feature team. No new details to share at this time.
Meanwhile, feel free to share why you need this in class teams / staff teams, and what you need to see (ie # read / list of users read / timestamp of read) and for what purpose.

This would be very useful for us, we have chat disabled for student, so rely entirely on Teams themselves for communication.

This would be very useful if you are posting across multiple channels with many users. Very hard to keep track who's seen the post without the read receipt.

when we announce things to the organisation it would be helpful to see how many/who is paying attention, or if our communications are being missed.

As a teacher this would be helpful so I know which students I need to follow up with (ie, those who have not seen the post, those who consistently are not accessing Teams, etc).

YES!!! I post messages, no idea if anyone has seen or not. This would make it so much easier to keep track of student engagement and make sure nobody is getting lost...

I like Carol's idea a lot. If teachers could mark certain posts with higher importance and students would have an option to confirm they read the post, this would give us increased visibility about which students are actually seeing the messages we are sending. As many other teachers have mentioned- during distance learning this is one of the biggest challenges teachers are facing- knowing whether or not students are receiving the work and messages we are creating. A temporary work around that was mentioned in a few comments would be to ask students to "like" a post that is sent with high importance to confirm they have read it- but that could really clog up the activity section in Teams.

Really important for project teams and reference groups too. Without being able to see who has read posts and updates, we may as well revert to email notices - that way we know they get opened. This is massive for me.

I agree with many here. Teachers need to know if messages have been read. However, just the message appearing on the screen does NOT mean it was read. Can we have a pop up or flag that students (or any message recipient) must click that confirms the message was read? It would not have to attach to every message. Please allow teachers to add an IMPORTANCE button to certain messages that recipients would have to click to confirm.

This would be so helpful to see who is active in my class on Teams. It is nice when you can see who has seen an assignment but when I post into teams an important message but students choose not to comment or like it, it would be beneficial to see that they have at least seen the post.

Just need to see who has a read the message. If we tag students for missing assignment deadlines it would be nice to know if they saw my message and ignored me or didn't read it at all. It would help for tracking students remotely. I wouldn't want/need students to have this ability.

I expect functionality like in WhatsApp. I need to see who received the message and who read it. It is important to verify and could maybe start an action.

I am a manager at a company with hundreds of employees, of which about 100 work on Teams. We have made dozens of teams, with many channels, from this point of view Teams is an extraordinary tool. But all of this becomes useless when you don't know if the team members were aware of the other members' posts. This is the biggest frustration of my colleagues who are in complete disagreement because I imposed this and I forbade communication on WhatApps or Messenger (otherwise uncontrollable) between them. For a year I tell them to be patient that it will be solved, and if that is the solution I consider it a great mockery. I would like to see your team - those who are developers to this wonderful tool as you communicate with each other, using Teams without knowing if the one on the other end has become aware. If it is not resolved quickly I see myself forced to give up on it because I am tired of waiting for something so simple and common sense.

Students will use any excuse to avoid work. We all know someone whose dog ate their homework... Having a read receipt will confirm that a distributed worksheet, quiz, rubric, or test, did make it into the student's notebook. No excuses...

Not sure how effective this would be. I often glance at the screen and it may have several conversations on it. Unless I'm tagged I might not actually read it yet it will show that I did read it.

With schools switching to remote learning we are issuing work through the Teams posts and assignments. At present I am asking students to give me the thumbs up as a reaction to seeing my post. I would like the ability to see who is viewing as a means of tracking progress and the need for follow up. The hardest part of teaching remotely is tracking all students are aprticipating. Teams assignment is good at this but seeing a read receipt of some kind would be very helpful

I need it because I want to know if everybody see my post, sometimes students doesn't chek my post because they don´t have the app on their phones.

When remote working, such as this long COVID-19 crisis, it is extremely important to know when messages are received.
When dealing with students, it is extremely useful to know when they have seen messages. This allows tutors to connect directly or with another method in order to ensure understanding.
The same thing goes for staff members. -

Knowing which students have seen messages is useful so we can try and contact via another method. Also seeing a while list of students is useful.
