Add a member to an already set assignment
To use this as a school it really needs to have an option to add members to assignments after the assignment has been set. Currently if I have a new student added to the class then I have to delete the assignment and then send it out again.
When new students get added to a Class team, students will get all the assignments that have been assigned to the class.
Note: it may take several minutes for the assignments to distribute to the newly added student(s).

I've just tried this and it doesn't work. Days later students added to the class since the assignment still do not have it.
Hello. Yes @david, you solution works!!! Thank you!!
Hello, it's 2021. Has this feature been added yet? I don't see the new student's name in an already set assignment.
No, it does not "have this." The problem persists. We need to be able to remove students from and add students to the assignment at any time and EVEN if they are already/still in the class. Not everyone gets the same assignment and sometimes you forget to add someone or add a student erroneously and you have to completely delete and reassign the whole assignment...
Yes @david. This does work. Thank you!
FYI. Teams has this now. Edit the assignment and there's an option called "Assign to:
Don't assign to all students added to this class since (date assignment was set)". Click this and change Assign instead of Don't Assign. Click "Update". If you go out of the assignment and back in, the students added to the class late should appear. Sometimes it takes a minute or two, if Teams is being slow.

@justinchando It sounds like adding new students to a class isn't the issue for most of us. The issue is that we cannot add individual students to an assignment after it has been published. The inability to add individual students after an assignment is published is necessary for us to scaffold work for our students. It looks like this has been a request for some time. How disappointing.
I still wish you could add students to already assigned assignments. Some assignments are acting up (constantly reloading) but others are fine. In addition, some students are done or are currently working. I reassigned one student's to that individual. Then I found another student's assignment that is having the same issue. Now I need to create a new version of the assignment again. It'd be nice to be able to add students instead of creating a whole new assignment.

This is still sorely missed.
Just had a new student in my class, and could not send him the first assignment because it is distributed to individual students. (I have some first year students and some second year students in my class, so they do not all get the same assignments.)
Assignment has been assigned and not able to ADD an existing member once assigned. This would be great to ADD a member
@Justin, the answer you provide does not fit the scenario requested. The situation we are describing is to add or remove a specific assignment after the assignment is published, but only to that particular assignment.
I can think of several scenarios where this is useful: you make a mistake, a new student joined your class after the assignment was published but you do not want to assign all prior assignments, a student transferred to another school and will not complete the assignment, and possibly endless scenarios.
Your recommended solution which is to add the student as a new member of the class and then that student automatically gets all prior assignments only gives the student, who is new, a boatload of homework all at once and probably is not necessary for them to do.
Allowing the student to be added to or removed from an existing assignment would (1) control which assignments you'd like your students to do and not do and (2) would also keep the students grouped together on the grades tab, which is considerably easier to manage rather than having different groups of students for the same assignment because the assignment had to be duplicated for the additional students.

Still needed for times when you send it only to some students (differentiating) and then another student also needs this assignment...
This update is helpful, but not in the way that is most needed. If Teams is going to try to work as a gradebook (which is in beta right now, so I'm assuming that's a goal), there has to be a way to assign past assignments to specific users, otherwise it's going to be a mess of multiple assignments that are the same. It has to be for more than just new students. If I assign something to 7 students and then a week later another student is ready for the same assignment, I want to add them to the already existing one.
It's been 2 years, and still no movement on this? We have some schools with high rates of transiency. This is a must-have. In the meantime, our teachers have to have several versions of the same assignment, which is not helpful when they're trying to learn a new tool and interface.
Unfortunately until there is a fix for this it makes it "Unfit for purpose" and I will have to return to using a "third party" product.
This wouldn't even be fit as a beta test add on. :(
